OK...I'm going to pretty much say what another experienced photographer said...this is a very, very good deal for a very good piece of equipment, if you know what you're doing. I'm a professional rodeo photographer and I've been manually focusing since way back in the film days. I say this because you are going to need to manually operate you camera (aperture and shutter speed) while manually focusing this lens. If you can manage the ISO, Aperture, Shutter Speed triangle and manually focus then you will love this tele-converter. If you are a good visual problem solver and do not get frustrated with your equipment then you will love this tele-converter. If you have only shot auto-focus lenses; if you get frustrated easily; if you still struggle with photography exposure problems...then buy this converter but wait until you mature as a photographer to use it. You will want it one day. Performance: I've used it on a D810 with a f2.8 300mm lens with very good results when photographing wildlife (gives me 600mm). I've used it on a D2X with a 70-200mm to photograph sporting events with good results. I've used it on a 170-500mm for long distance wildlife photography (up to 1000mm) and got very good results...with a rock-solid Manfrotto heavy tripod. You will need a good tripod to get accurate focus at long distances. Bottom line: it's a very good tele-converter but you better use it with good equipment and really know what you're doing...or learn to know what you need (learning is fun...right?).
