Strength:

Small but solid, fits the hand well and takes up no room. Easy in and on the pocket.

Weakness:

Knocking the Mode switch accidently can alter settings and there is an annoying delay between turning on and using

I bought the Sekonic as a cheaper 'in the field replacement' after my Minolta meter finally broke down (after some years of heavy use/abuse). I will eventually fix the Minolta as I love it's rotating head and solid on/off switch but the fact is the Sekonic has grown on me and will always have a place in my kit. It's small but accurate despite having a couple of minor flaws. I'm not crazy about it's automatic turn off because of an annoying one second delay after turning back on. (Doesn't sound like much but can be a pain when you need to take a quick reading). The only other glitch is the mode switch which can be knocked accidently altering settings which can also cause delays. Despite these minor inconveniences it is a fine little meter.

Customer Service

Still working strong so have not had to test as yet.

Strength:

Good value for money. Large digital readout. Quite accurate. Reads flash besides reflective and incident light. Very easy to use. Small and light.

Weakness:

Have had and used this meter for 3 years and still can't find any weak points.

If you need an exposure meter don't shop around, just go and buy this one.

Model Reviewed: L-308B II Flashmate Light Meter

Strength:

Small size, slim and easily fits in shirt pocket. Includes a generous lanyard and soft case with belt loop. This is a basic (ambient/flash)reflectance and incident meter that is very easy to use with one hand - ergonomic controls with large digital display and crisp letters. Change from reflectance to incident measurements by simply sliding measuring dome. No rotating heads.

Weakness:

None

This is an exceedingly easy to use meter. The dome placement is on the same side of the meter as the readout, slightly biasing the meter towards ease of use in incident mode. Accurate, convenient with both ambient and flash metering (including multiple flashes and with corded trigger). This meter takes up very little room in a bag. I bought this meter to use with my manual bodies but because of it's convenience often use it to verify/adjust AF readings. This is well engineered and just plain works.

Customer Service

Owned meter for three years and haven't needed service.

Strength:

Copes with all jobs in one unit. Price is low enough for amateur use but it it is totally reliable for pro use

Weakness:

Batteries last about 3 to 4 months only if used daily

Superb, I would not hesitate at buying another but might just look at the new model Sekonic with spot facility

Customer Service

Works as good as the day I bought it

Strength:

Quick, light, easy.

Weakness:

Could use illuminated disply sometimes.

Used this in 16mm/super 16 movie work and now for still photography. Dependable, versatile, light-weight, and simple. Simplicity is good for me, this meter doesn't create more problems on a set when I have a thousand other things on my mind.

Customer Service

Weakness:

The casing! It's very cheap, or let me say "plasticky".

Overall really good meter. Just the casing really sucks.
