Model Reviewed: 283 Flash

Strength:

INcredible ability to be adapted to a variety of circumstances easily, sometimes exotically; also, general all around reliabilty.

Weakness:

Only with an early model, which after 10 years, started eating sensor modules, at $26 a pop.

Good value for the dollar, reliable, a workhorse. Powerful (up to a point), readily adaptable to new conditions, nearly indestructible under ordinary conditions. Repeatably accurate exposures. The foot (plastic) has a tendency to break, but it can be easily replaced with a metal foot which is practiaccly bulletproof.

Customer Service

I've never tried sending it to Vivitar. Instead, I use a commercial strobe repair outfit to replace the capacitors (twice).
