Strength:
gn of 180 lots of auto features compatible with quantum turbo battery sunpak's great workmanship keep up the good work sunpak
Weakness:
none. and i mean none. sorry i'm still waiting for my sunpak pz5000af which ups will deliver it 11/11/02. anyways, based on what i've been reading on the web, i'm convinced it's a great camera speedlite. my experience with sunpak flashes dates back to when i purchased their 622 super, which after 10 years now, has proven to be a great flash and still works like new. based on those facts, i'm sold on sunpak when it comes to flashes. case closed. Customer Service none. Similar Products Used: sunpak 622 super purchased in 1992 and still works like new. |

Strength:
Guide number of 180 Auto Zoom head Focus assist beam Works in TTl or Auto Has stroboscopic & slave features Can use TRII Pak for external power Good exposure accuracy on Canon D60
Weakness:
Correct exposure indicator is on LCD panel instead of being a separate "green" light. No wide angle diffuser included. Great flash. Produces excellent exposures on my Canon D60. Wide range of Auto aperature choices. Nice LCD panel on back with light. Can use my TRII Pak as external power. Also functions in TTL for my other Canon cameras. Chose this flash over Canon's E-TTL flashes because of the Auto mode for extra creativity and exposure control. Customer Service Never used. Strength:
Matches the N80 and D lens very well, high guide number and price was great compared to the Nikon flashes. Zoom head is great. Works with 3D and distance lens
Weakness:
Don't like the wheel locking system, always liked the vivitar 283 switch locking system. Supurb flash, ease of use and high guide number. Alway mount a flash to the side and it balances very well. A little heavy if you put it on a small camera hot shoe. Use the N80 with a MB-16 and tried it not to bad balance. Same range of the head matches the lens I use. Customer Service none Similar Products Used: Nikon SB-'s, 16,17,20 and some I forgot. Honeywell, vivitar 283, vivitar 3900. |

Strength:
Good light control on Slave mode. Ability to set custom configurations. Very usefull auto zoom feature.
Weakness:
Hotshoe mounting isn't firm enough. My flash even felt from my N90s once. It tends to "freeze" and must be turned off and back on to fix it. The PZ5000AF is a very versatile piece of equipment, it provides many features usually restricted to more expensive brands. I've had great results doing close-up portraits with it. The slave mode works just fine. However, some times the trigger mechanism doesn't synchronize properly. Customer Service Very poor, they have just one point of contact and they take too long to got anything fix. Similar Products Used: SB-28 AF (I did'nt changed it, it got stolen) |

PZ5000AF
Strength:
Very powerful lens (GN 180@135mm/feet/ISO100... great display...PRICE POINT... much cheaper than comparable flashes.
Weakness:
Plastic mount, plastic scroll wheel feels very cheap. Among the technically advanced functions the Sunpak PZ5000AF flash offers are, auto power zoom capability from 28mm to 135mm, as well as manual zoom control. In addition to being able to tilt vertically a full 90 degrees, the PZ5000AF also includes a separate negative 10 degree tilt function for close-up applications, assuring proper lighting coverage at very close distances. Flash head swivel is 270 degrees to further enhance creative lighting control (180 degrees left and 90 degrees right). Customer Service No need to contact them. Similar Products Used: None. |

Strength:
Flexibile output selection.
Weakness:
Tends to "lock up" and must be turned off and back on to reset. The PZ5000AF has provide a greater range of creativity in lighting needs. Ability to override many of the automatic functions and set custom lighting needs. In doing close-up portraits, setting the zoom to max with a lens focal length od 70 or less, produces a concentration of light on a spot. The high guide number permits the use of a longer lens than I've used and provides sufficient light. I've used the slave mode without having additional cables or transmitters. Has work great in all aspects of my shooting, fill, bounce/indirect, second curtain sync, etc. Customer Service No need Similar Products Used: Used Vivitar 283's for years. |
