This produces a true flash like a Speedlight..... not that led light stuff. This comes with multiple ring adapters that let you fit this to virtually any lense size up to 77 mm. Ever since I've gotten this I have not used my Speedlite at all. This thing can be set to be extremely powerful manually and it also works through TTL. Being a ring Flash the light source completely surrounds the lens and it's already diffused, so there are virtually none of the shadows you would see on someone's face if you were using a top-mounted flash. There has never been anything like this before, or since. Ring flashes tend to have very high contrast light. But Olympus solved that way back in the film days. Think "beauty dish" for bugs! It brings soft, even lighting to the macro realm.
