Strength:
faster recycling than nicads, not as huge and heavy as many other external batteries.
Weakness:
Charging issues, not easy to attach to a flash bracket without becoming ungainly. NOTE: the bantam-to-flash module isn't compatible with other batteries from Quantum and other manufacturers, I am told that you can rewire it to work like the "Battery-1" modules, which are far more popular and work with competitors batteries. My Bantams were very nice at first, they recycled faster than nicads and worked fine with my viviar 283's. The little lights on the top were a very nice touch, you can see about how full or empty your battery is. NOTE: I had a servere memory problem with one of my batteries, where I had not drained it completely before charging it and then afterwards, I never got a full charge and a full number of flashes out of the device. The charging is a bit long for my taste, so I had to have 2, and if I were to do it again, I might get something else. Customer Service independant shops, not Quantum Similar Products Used: I haven't used it, but the dasaga top battery looks good. |

Strength:
Faster recycle times and a gauge to determine remaining battery power. No memory problems with the lead acid battery. Mount under your camera body, or on your flash bracket. Use it to power your digital camera. Cheap 2nd hand and very easy to replace the battery inside yourself. Batteries available at specialty stores.
Weakness:
none. Compact, and soooo much more efficient than AA's. Not as efficient as my quantum battery 1 but pretty darn good. I have 2 bantams. Customer Service needed to get a mounting clip for the bantam. They were quick and cost only $2. Similar Products Used: Battery 1, vivitar 510 volt pack. |
