Strength:
Price, results, quality.
Weakness:
Akward, bulky, takes a little practice to fit it on the flash straight in one go. It works. That's all there is to it. It can take quite some abuse before tearing, ripping etc. It's cheap and effective. Customer Service Nope Similar Products Used: Nope. |

Strength:
Very good softening qualities and doesn't effect metering on flash at all. Have to adjust some for light loss but easily fixed when adjustments made on camera's exposure controls. Strong, hard working softbox that isn't afraid of getting pushed around.
Weakness:
Cumbersome to install on the flash, requires two hands to make sure its fit snug and straight. Easy problem to fix with a little time though. Metering is not much of a problem since I can make the little adjustment using my camera body's controls. I purchased this softbox to replace the PhotoFlex Large inflatiable one I had. This box is alot stronger and can take more abuse than my previous one. I purchased the Lumiquest Cinch Strap to attach it to my Canon 550EX flash. I made the mistake and put the self adhesive veclro on my Canon 540EZ which made a mess when I took it off when it came time to sell it. I use this same softbox on my Metz 45CT-1 flash and it works like a dream with it too. Customer Service Not needed. Similar Products Used: PhotoFlex Large XTC On-Camera Softbox |

Strength:
Softens light awesome for subjects with glossy of fair skin. Portraits with natural backgrounds, portraits with open or distant backgrounds. Affects metering very little.
Weakness:
Bulky, and awkward. I use the softbox on all my small flash guns but mostly on the Viv 285hv and with my M645. For direct flash situations from normal-wide to mild tele I get desired results without adjusting flash metering. Auto flash seems to compensate fine. When shooting subjects with walls or backgrounds directly behind (within 5-10 feet) a bounce or second flash is required to reduce harsh background shadowing. Although it is a bulky unit it does diffuse flash well but I find it works best if flash head is always extended to the tele position to further diffuse harsh light. I also add a rubber band around velcro to keep things in place during busy shoots or outside in the wind. Similar Products Used: Standard issue wide diffusers and homemade bounce reflectors. |
