Strength:

Speed - but at a price.

Weakness:

Far too much grain, poor latitude, purplish cast. Nowhere near sharp enough for me. Highlights seemed to blowout far more than a Fuji film.

I'm with the latter reviews, ie the harsh ones. I did not like what I got from this film. I typically use Fuji slide film. I suppose I could find ways to use this film & its characteristics, but for a 400 film this is waaay too grainy for me.

Fuji variants - they are all FAR superior to this film.

Strength:

Almost none, except the speed. I bought one 'cause I have to; I ran out of film and has to buy this stuff.

Weakness:

Grain, grain. RMS 19. I can see an old Sensia's (RMS:13) gain, when it was projected about 20x30 inches. (with an old german slide projector, standing next to it) The graininess of this film not the only one bad thing: the sharpness isn't better. It seemed to me that the grain didn't give "romantical" air to the photos. They showed squared granularity. Something similar if I photographed to emery paper. Color accuracy is wrong. I actually photograph nature, but with this film I had taken portraits; every showed a yellow flesh tone. Some birds: still far from perfect. Green is greyish, dark (that would be good)but dull, boring.

Not a good film. You can buy a cheaper and better one.

You may download a PDF file from Kodak and compare the technical parameters of this film with others. That really represents the value of this film.

Provia 400. That was cheaper, and far, far better. Don't bother you with this stuff.

Strength:

Colors are ok on sunny days.

Weakness:

the grain is so obvious, I can't show these slides on a big screen.

will never buy this film again. Fuji Provia 400f is ways better. A liitle more expensive, but you can make a slide presentation with that. I bought 10 roll pack and can't finish it. It seems, all shots are out of focus.

Strength:

If you want realism, Elite Chrome 400 gives you that. No exaggerated colors. Faithful to what I saw through my lens. I used it in candle light, with tripod and shot crystal wine glasses. Excellent color fidelity and sharpness with no discernible grain in sharp areas - only in blurred background areas - but not unpleasant at all. Also shot pets with indirect ambient interior light. Sharp and as I saw them.

Weakness:

Perhaps could improve on details in the shadows. Better latitude perhaps?

Disappointed with some of the reviews I read here before seeing the results of my roll. I was pleased with the results. If you like realism and need the speed, this one fits the bill.

Strength:

Mmmmmmmm......

Weakness:

Grainy I kind of expected, but very flat contrast made this stuff just plain awful.

You're much better off using a slower pro film and pushing as needed, or use print film. I was so disappointed with this product that I threw the finished slides away.

Strength:

Well... it's rated 400

Weakness:

I expect grain at ISO 400 in slide film - But I could see the grain in this with my bare eye ~6 inches from slide. Colors were shot. Not a single shot out of 2 rolls usable.

I would avoid this film at all costs unless it meant getting a shot of Elvis with a UFO... even then...

Strength:

...very fast, yep that's is just very fast

Weakness:

Very grany. It's to grany to actually show in a slide-show. Kodak really's got to work on this one!

Stay clear away from this one. This is not for slides. It's the graniest film I've ever seen!
Better to use is EliteChromo 200 and push it about 1-2 stops.

Strength:

2 extra stops of Speed.
The pictures I took look reasonable - but obviously not as good as 100 speed film.

Weakness:

not my favorite - not as sharp as 100. Only tried 4 rolls of this film.

I agree with the previous reviewer. The first reviews trashed this film excessively.
This is not my favourite film, but the film has not disappointed me when used in a point and shoot camera. Obviously not as good as 100 speed film. Results are good enough when the extra speed is necessary.

Strength:

Decent speed
Good, accurate colour rendition

Weakness:

It's a little grainy

I can't believe the other reviews of this film... I've shot a few rolls of this stuff now, and it's really quite a nice film. Yes, there's some grain, but it's quite a pleasant grain (think Delta 3200 in B&W prints - lovely and soft) and is quite pleasing for portraits. It's nice to have a stable and accurate 400 speed slide film for using with long lenses, and this film gives me that. A little more saturation wouldn't go amiss, but the speed lets me use a polariser, so that's OK.
Overall, it's a good film. Not amazing, but certainly far better than the other reviews would have you believe!

Customer Service

Not needed with this film, but very good generally!
