Strength:

The only really punchy slide film to choose if you want excellent saturation across all the colors

Weakness:

Not the best choice for portraits if you need true skin colors...go for Astia here.
Need more speed..use Provia 100F

Still the best and most fine-grained slidefilm I've ever tried. Very reliable results and a corker for landscape pictures and commercial applications

Kodak's Echtacrome better for pictures that needs a red punch, fall colurs for instance. Fuji Provia 100F is close, but not close enough

Strength:

Color saturation is unbeleivable. I do a lot of nightclub photography, and to accurately convey the color of the moment, this is great.

Weakness:

White people tend to look red.

Use this for photographing anything where color is paramount...i.e. nightclubs where the people are bathed in multi-colored light...Switch off to Provia for white people in daylight/flash/bright tungsten.

Strength:

Gorgeous film, unbeatable in color saturation and sharpness

Weakness:

skin tones

Reference film for outdoor photography (landscapes, nature, macro)and creative still-life.
Velvia frequently outperforms other films in direct comparison on light table. Especially good in 120 rolls.

Strength:

Excellent Sharpness, and very very fine grain the best film in the world for landscapes

Weakness:

Have to use ultra slow shutter speeds which makes might photography a bit tricky

If you are serious about going proffesional, and having your images published velvia is the only option. This film really is the best I have ever used, it enhances every colour and detail. *WOW*!

Strength:

Grain, sharpness and wonderful, wonderful colour

Weakness:

Slow, and sometimes too much colour.

Magnificent colours for my photography - travel, landscapes etc. Hopeless skin tones.
I can't praise this stuff too highly - I've shot a huge amount of it, and within its limitations (slow speed, poor skin tones and that's it) this has NEVER failed me. The best film on the planet, and enough to stop me going digital.

Strength:

Very fine grain.Very good in shadows

Weakness:

Sometimes too much colour. The objects seems artificial.Problems with light parts of the picture, especially foaming water.Horrible in winter ,it gets all blue-green in the shades.

I can understand why so many of my friends like this film, but it is not my first choice.I want colours as close as they appears in real life,to get that genuine feeling in the photos. And Velvia is the opposite.

Strength:

Delicious colors.
Grain, what grain?

Weakness:

Useless for skin tones

This must be the ultimate landscape photographer's film. The colors burst from the film. However, don't depend on this film to render skin tones accurately - Caucasian subjects will look sunburned.

This film is great for scenic photography. Over saturated colors sell better than reality, when it comes to stock and editorial Photography.
