Strength:

Color, color, color!!! More saturation than you can poke a stick at and a keen sense for beautiful color even when there's none. Yep - it's unreal sometimes, but that's why it's so good! I've never had an editor say "That's too colorful" and hence it gives its users the EDGE! Other than color, consistency, sharpness and contrast have to be seen to be believed!

Weakness:

Sometimes too warm for skin-tones (but not always - especially in industrial environments). Expensive for those who have to pay for the stuff (it's worth it though). Picks up slight color casts (eg. tungsten/fluro light) and emphasises them. All pretty minor gripes really...

If you don't like Velvia - who cares? It has to be the most successful and wonderful product to come out of Fuji for years! Though I admit it is not ideal for everything, when used, it adds a 'sparkle' to your work - sometimes surprising, often amazing! It handles long exposures beautifully (I've exposed 8x10 Velvia up to 4 hours with no dissernable color shift) and the film speed is really not that low once you're used to it (I shoot travel Xpan and 35mm shots handheld on it constantly). Now, if only the new Provia 100F was as good... but that's another story!

Strength:

Great vibrant color. Super sharp.

Weakness:

Too slow for hand held work, use a good tripod and cable release and you'll be in business.

This is a great slide film for shooting landscapes and architecture. The colors are great, I rated it at ISO 32 and it came out beautifully!

Beautiful colors, especially natures colors (e.g. Blues, Greens). Flora and Landscape slides. Strong contrast. Vibrant

Not for portraits. If you want good reds and skin tones use Kodak (I like kodachrome)

Beautiful slide film for portraits of nature.

A very fine grain ISO 50 film. But one should realise this is an ISO 40 film, and should be rated accordingly. Good saturtated colors, usefull in nature photography. Also very good when pushed one stop. The film standared for most photographers. By the way do not use this film for people or under grey light. The colors are off under these conditions.

Strength:

Rich colors. Fine grain.

Weakness:

Velia is not ISO 50. It is about 32. Fuji doesn't publicize this very well and if you don't know it can cause some problems.

Good film if you know what to expect. Great cold colors; perfect for sky, sports in water, snow, etc. Weird when shooting skin tones or greys.

Sensia 100 is a good budget film, for those who are looking for a inexpensive slide film. Astia 100 is also great portrait silde film, but I highly recommend Velvia 50 for its outstanding sharpness, grain, and rich colors. Especially, if you like shooting landscapes. I know, I do.....

Strength:

It is VERY colorful. I love it in 4x5 best of all. Not quite as sharp as K25, but just as nice in color.

Weakness:

Sometimes the color can be unreal, so its best to use this in certain situations. I like this film on overcast days, but break out the K25 when the sun comes out.

Velvia is a film for dramatics!
