:-( I was so depressed with the results of my new N90s. Shot 3 rolls in AF mode. Only 2 pictures(outdoor) came out good. Other pics really suck. After reading the reviews, I believe there''s nothing wrong with the camera and the lens. Need to try shooting with Kodak Gold 200. If the results are still bad, I''ll take classes in photography. Strength:
Ability to handle contrast Rendition of greens Incredibly forgiving of overexposure Widely available
Weakness:
Grain in skies - improve with 1 stop overexposure. Brown tinge to shaded skin in bright light - improve with fill flash. I wanted a print film for the camera I grab for the unexpected, but which would also serve some of my regular shooting needs. I designed a torture test series of 24 shots and exposed this film and all of the others listed under similar products. I live in the forest of beautiful British Columbia. Green is important to me, so is shadow rendition (we don''t get a lot of direct sun) and skin tones. All of the tests were shot at the same time of day, in the same overall light using Nikon prime lenses (50mm f1.8 and 24mm f2.8D). All of the results were printed at the same lab on Fuji crystal archive at 6X4, one shot from each roll enlarged to 8X12. Max 400 best met my requirements. I spent a summer week in Arches Park and Canyonland, Utah. I used Fuji Velvia, Provia F and Kodak E100VS there, but repeated a lot of the shots on Max 400, just for fun. Three enlargements from that week made it onto my walls and two of those were shot on Max 400. A great general purpose film. Strength:
NONE!
Weakness:
Grainy, unnatural skin tones, colors are way off. I''m absolutely disgusted with the performance of this film! Skin tones are completely unnatural and appeared stained with brown/red tint. Outdoor performance is utterly disgraceful and prints are very grainy. Some valueable shots have been lost due to this film and if I could give a negative rating, I would! This is the last time I use Kodak Max! Anything Fuji is better than this... Customer Service None Similar Products Used: Fuji Superia, Reala, Velvia |

Strength:
Not impressed with the film.
Weakness:
I shot 4 rolls and consistently had flat picture quality with the grains visible on blow ups! I much preferred Kodak 200 Try Kodak 200 instead. Similar Products Used: Kodak 100, 200, 400 |

Strength:
Relatively inexpensive. Pretty good color saturation and sharpness.
Weakness:
This film is OK, but leaves me a little cold. Nothing really wrong with it, per se, but not something I will buy since I can get Supra for about the same price. I shot four rolls of this and don't have any complaints, but it also doesn't really grab me like Supra 400 does. It isn't as sharp as Supra, but no 400 speed film is. The colors are fine, but not spectacular. I shot some photos of volleyball players with this film and they turned out quite well. My preference is Supra, but I would buy this if Supra wasn't available. Customer Service not used Similar Products Used: Most everything |

Strength:
Fairly cheap, and can be bought almost anywhere.
Weakness:
Grain can be seen at as soon as you go to 5X7 print size This film seems to enhance the green tones for me. I have no scientific proof of this but it just seems that way to me. Unless you are in low light with a Point and Shoot camera I would go with speed 200 before speed 400. But for casual, non-critical shooting it is fine. Strength:
Cheap film--widely available.
Weakness:
Yes it is grainier than Gold 200, but not as muddy at times as Superia 400. I've tested this against Superia 400 in all my old screw mount cameras. Superia performs better in twilight, gives a painted effect--but tends to be muddy in daylight. Max 400 renders bright color all the time and is good for telephoto lenses. Yes it is grainier than Kodak Gold 200, but for general use, just kicking around the neighborhood in a variety of conditions, this is a good compromise. Guess somebody must be buying it, since it is everywhere. Customer Service What??? Similar Products Used: Fuji Superia 400 |

Strength:
400 speed helps in action and low light
Weakness:
All my family outdoor shots, the skin tone seemed to have red/yellow splotchy color to them. A little grainy, but it is 400 speed. If it wasn't for the red/yellow splotchy it would be a good film. Customer Service n/a Similar Products Used: FUJI Superia |

worst 400 film ever, don't know why Kodak say that it's the best selling. Must be PR stuff that fool other dumb people... Never shoot this film with anything deserve you to commit to film. Similar Products Used: Kodak Gold 100, MAX 800, Gold 400, Fuji NPS, NPH |
