Kodak Gold 100 Print Film

Kodak Gold 100 Print Film

DESCRIPTION

A Kodak classic for those who prefer low-speed films. Kodak Gold Bright Sun Film offers an excellent combination of color saturation, color accuracy, and sharpness in a 100-speed film.

Strength:

none really

Weakness:

too yellow, no saturation, poor grain for a 100 speed film, too expensive for how poor this film is

this is a very poor consumer grade film that should not even be sold. Fuji and Agfa films blow this film out of the water, and they are less expensive too

Strength:

Universal availability, consistent results, fine grain, good color and contrast, sharp.

Weakness:

None.

Cheap 4-packs available at most department stores make this a good day-to-day film (price paid is for 4 24-exp. rolls). Perhaps Kodak Supra 100 or Fuji Reala would be better for enlargements or scanning, but I'm satisfied with 11x14's made from Gold 100. Images are sharp with excellent color rendition and fine grain for the speed.

Strength:

Very Sharp
Very good contrast
Nice natural color
Great speed for enlargements
Available everywhere
Fairly inexpensive

Weakness:

I found the color to be a little too warm at times.

This is a great inexpensive sunny day film. I think the reds and yellows can look really great on bright days. The skin tones also look very good. If you are shooting landscapes, I would maybe try Fuji. But for outdoor people shots, I like this film a lot!

Strength:

Cheap, Great for snapshots and it's cheap

Weakness:

Boring, Kodak used to be a leader in Consumer Photographics but the competition has left it floundering. Gold 100 is a ,most unexiting film.

If you want the best value for money head for Fuji or Konica. This film lacks vitality is slightly granier than the opposition and is as I said before, boring. However if all you are doing are snapshots Gold 100 is fine.

Strength:

Fine grain, high resolution, nice saturation, good contrast, great tonal range. And it's cheap.

Weakness:

nope

Great stuff at a great price. If you're going to be in very bright sun or use flash (or if your camera is equipped with a fast lens and slow shutter speeds that you can use dependably) this is a fine choice.

Strength:

I do NOT like it.

Weakness:

Grain, excess saturation, thin negs, lots of sky grain in 16x20 from full-frame 35mm. Bah!

Forget this film. If you care at all, use Royal Gold for 35mm. Since it doesn't come in 1/220, I don't comment on that, but I would NOT use it there either.

When my wife and I are going to a outdoor family gathering, and I know that I am going to burn15-20 rolls in 2-3 days, this film is one of my most used. I generally slightly prefer Fuji for many uses, but for shooting ppl, this film is as or more pleasing. The price cannot be beat. I can buy this film at a wharehouse club for under $1 a roll with rebates. Almost all labs can process and print this film as well as any other. It is perhaps the most commonly used film in this country, and that works in your favor at developing/printing time.

I rate this 4 starts overall because there are better films, but not necessarily a lot better.

Strength:

Phenomenal color saturation with very fine grain. Available almost anywhere. great for enlargements

Weakness:

Contrast is moderate compared to professional film, and colors can be too strong for "people" photography.

an excellent film for taking pictutres of colorful objects or landscapes. Sunny conditions are needed to have enough light and fast enough exposure times in order to prevent blurr. May be too saturated for taking pictures of people (in that case use Reala)

I really have had a lot of problems with this film... Pictures taken outdoors without a flash are often blurry; with a flash overexposed. I don't have the same problem with other brands of film, so it's not a camera issue. I'd strongly recommend using either another brand or the 200 ISO film.
