Strength:

Contrast, vivid color

Weakness:

May not be good enough for a silky wedding picture where fog effects are desired.

I truly do not understand those negative reviews. I would suggest that they try different labs and maybe use a better lens and filter. I tried this NPC recently on a trip to carribeans. The color are just popping out the picture. I did use a polarizer becuase of the strong sun light. Color saturation, contrast, and sharpness are the best on all the negative films that I have tried. Yes, NPS is a little bit soft and silky, a good film also. I personally likes the contrasty film that is easy to grab attention. I strongly agree with one reviewer that processing film is the half of the job. Look for a good one who uses fresh solutions. You just can not save money on the processing, no matter what film you use. One of my own experience, I send my Fuji slides to a processing lab, expect to get a vivid color. I did not. And I was puzzled. Guess what, they process those slides with Kodak which requires less time in the first developer. I then processed all the slides myself, all the photos come out like post cards.

Strength:

great detail powerful colors dramatic contrast perfect for flash photography

Weakness:

dramatic contrast skin tones a bit pink without flash colors can appear overdone under some circumstances

Wonderful film for flash photography. VEry sharp, and contrast is a wonderful asset for bounce flash photography. Without flash, it is merely good. Skin tones run toward the pink, no matter what lab I''''ve used. Contrast can be a bit too severe for some conditions. In any case, it captures wonderful amounts of detail, and the colors have alot of punch and livliness to them, though maybe not entirely realistic to my eye... But, since Royal Gold 100 has been discontinued, this will probably end up becoming my slow film fine grain film of choice.

Strength:

Contrast, latitude

Weakness:

Disappointing Skin tones, Grain.

Advertised as a portrait film I thought it would give truer flesh tones. Sure it''s contrasty, but skin tones seem overblown in colour no matter how it it printed. Of course it isn''t as bad a Reala which is nasty on skin, but I thought skin might have been a bit more like a 160NPS. Grain is also unimpressive. It doesn have good exposure latitude for contrasty film though. NPS160 is so smooth and sliky in comparison. If you are purely doing portraits go NPS (and over expose 2/3 stop if you really need more contrast). If you want colourful landscape go Reala which has finer grain and punchy colours. Or make real images by using Fuji professional slide film.

Strength:

Great Contrast and superb grain even at 35mm.

Weakness:

A touch on the red side when under exposed

The main Film I use to shoot portraits and Fashion stories. I shoot both the 35mm and the120 & 220 stock. However my images are very vibrant and may not appeal to everyone.

Strength:

Super Fine Grain
Tonal Range is very accurate
colours are intense but not artificially so
Handled mixed light flawlessly

Weakness:

No package deals, so it can
get pricey.
Film does a much better job with underexposure then it does with overexposure

This film handled everything I through at it, whereas the kodak 160VC fell apart under identical conditions.

Strength:

High contrast, high saturation, bold, 'snappy' color reproduction.

Weakness:

None really, but caucasian skin tones can be a bit on the pink side.

A faster alternative to the neutral contrast Reala 100, which is my other favorite 100 ISO film. NPC has higher contrast and is 2/3 faster. Worth the cost when you see the results.

Strength:

Bold punchy contrast, smooth near non-existent grain even in 8x10. Flash photos fully recoverable, when overexposed because of the contrast characteristics. faster than 100, skintones are realistic, averages well in reproduction

Weakness:

Not a slow film, and not really a fast film, I am not sure, but I don't think this film can be pushed or pulled.

I truly believe this film is the color answer to dramatic contrast of black and white. Even snapshots seem to have an appealing edge. Also, because of the contrast edges in the photos are crisp-looking if not grain crisp. A much better film than NPS, which is really icky soft. This film is now my standard print film

Strength:

- NO IDEA

Weakness:

- no latitude
- unatural colors

This film sucks! I bought 4 rolls to photograph a friend's college graduation. Outdoor, overcast, and bright. The results were horrible. NPS was so good, I have no idea why they decided to stop making it or to have NPC join forces with NPS. NPC doesnt even come close. Since my local lab decided to stop carrying NPS, I've looked elsewhere for film.

Strength:

Clarity, sharpness, edge, 3D quality

Weakness:

Can wash out in brighter sunlight

With Reala 120 out of the medium format picture, this is the next best thing. Where Reala could oversaturate, NPC seems more lifelike. Both are equally well-detailed. Reala may be better for saturated colors in bright sunlight; this one is better all-around unless the specific subject matter demands Reala's characteristics.
