Strength:

fine grain accurate colour reproduction

Weakness:

A little grainier than Fuji

This was my 400 speed film of choice for a while. I shoot lots of film but am on a tight budget and while Fuji Superia is better, the Agfa HDC probably represented the next best choice for those of us who hate Kodak's overblown colours.

Strength:

Enhanced reds.
Very contrasty.

Weakness:

Too much grain.
Reds are so enhanced, sometimes the color bleeds, especially on flower photos.
Greens tend to be a bit copper or dull. Almost like a cheap version of Kodak Royal Gold :)

If you ever want a sunrise or sunset picture to really bring out stunning red or orange hues, without using filters, try either the HDC 400 or 200. Incredible effects compared to the Kodak films. It is OK film for everyday use, but others are better for the same price. I would certainly use Fuji Superia 400 over this for important photos, but it is still better than most Kodak films, including Supra 400.
HDC has been discontinued and replaced by Agfa's new Vista line. I just got a six pack of Vista 200 ISO and will be running it shortly. Hoping that the new film is less grainy than the HDC!
