Ilford Delta 3200 Black and White Film

Ilford Delta 3200 Black and White Film

DESCRIPTION

Delta 3200 Professional is an ultra-speed black and white film, ideal for fast action and low light photography such as night time, sport, or indoor architectural applications where flash photography is 'forbidden'. This is a genuine high speed film with an ability to record highlight detail that sets it apart from other films. Ilford Delta 3200 Professional has many strengths, most notably its liberating high speed, unobtrusive grain structure and its unsurpassed tonality.

Strength:

versatile film. I love the fact that I don't need to use a flash most of the time.

Weakness:

Not a lot of camera places sell this film.

I take photos of bands and musical productions, and I find this film to be perfect for it. I mostly use the available lighting and not my flash.

Strength:

speed, actually not really

Weakness:

3200 my arse, more like 1000
toally blank shadow detail at 3200

Who is the idot who came up with 3200? Also who are the even bigger idiots from ilford who think you can expose this at 6400. If you expose this film at 3200 or above you may as well use lith film. Totally blank shadow detail, clogged up highlights from extra developing time and maybe 2 or 3 ugly shades of grey. For your own sake do not expose this film past 1000, the same goes for t-max 3200.

If you don't believe me, take a shot exposed at 3200, then expose the same shot at 1000 with normal development. Compare the two shots, if you honestly believe this is a 3200 speed film after comparing the results you shouldn't be allowed to call yourself a photographer.

As a 800-1000 speed film it's good, as a 3200 speed film it's horse piss.

Model Reviewed: Delta 3200

Strength:

Excellent grain characteristics and very fast film speed.

Weakness:

I've only run 3 rolls with this film but right now I'd suggest rating it from ASA 1000 to 1600 not the 3200 ASA Ilford rates it at!

An exceptional film, but not rated correctly. Experiment with using this film and get comfortable with development times and "your own rated ASA" before relying on it. If your using it for the first time I would suggest exposing at 1600 ASA or adding 25% to the listed development time.
