Strength:
Adequate flatbed use.
Weakness:
Lousy transparency scanning. Grainy, and often see grid lines across scan. Absolutely worthless for color negative scans. Only picks up cyan 90% of the time. When it does attempt to grab 4/c, you'll see a host of parallel lines running across the image. Shadwo detail completely gone as well. I'm not trying to be nasty, but want to help others avoid mistake. I would not even use this scanner as a door stop. Customer Service Non-existent. Can't get a call through, no callbacks, etc. Similar Products Used: Agfa, HP |

????
Weakness:
Umax is great in the cheapper range of scaners. They have great hardware with very poor software. Umax Powerlook III or 3000 are the big examples. the same products (hardware you can buy from Heidelberg with great software!!!) It's better to spend some more money and go for the cheapest IMACON or if you have UMAX go for SilverFast software Customer Service ??? Similar Products Used: Umax Powerlook 3000 |

Strength:
Superior over all scanner. Close to drum scans if you know how to use it.
Weakness:
Color negatives hard to get skin tones good. I mostly scan Medium format Transparancies, and the high end publishers I work with state that my scans are some of the best, with the exception of a drum scan. Customer Service I've not needed to use customer service, other than down loading a new driver. Similar Products Used: I've been a product tester for a few other scanner companies, and I still like this flatbed best. |
