    Strength:

Extremely good colour accuracy. The very long list of strengths is listed in so many other reviews...I'll skip this :)

    Weakness:

Film grain is being over exaggerated on slides and high iso B/W films. (However on Velvia, Provia it seems the scanner truly scans grainfree images at the 4x sampling.) No Digital ICE No professional software package included (Note: for the price you pay there is no need to complain about anything :)

In addition to what has been written till 20-08-2003 on this site, I will just write a specific review about colour accuracy. (reviewers before me; I want to thank you a lot for your extensive reviews). The scanner is not only extremely fast on a 2.0 Ghz USB 2 enabled pc, but also very accurate in the colour rendition. I think it's because the scanner equipes a three lightwave fluorscent lamp which automatically calibrates everytime you turn on the scanner. When I compared the output of my EPSON 2400 Perfection PHOTO with the first scan of this thing (default settings), there was a big moment of silence... And some remark like "holy **** look at the colour accuracy with the original PROVIA 100F material!!! I've put many samples on the internet on the homepage: http://www.eftegarie.nl The time I needed to post-photoshop my pictures now was lessened to just some minor brightness controlling. Since I need the true skyblues on my provia materials for which I use polarizing filters and try to choose the perfect time of the day to get the best saturated colours, I was very dissapointed by many scans on other scanners. My Provia's and velvia's from the Varanasi sunsets from my trip to India I scanned again on the dimage Dual III and I was amazed by the quality. This is not the type of scanner if you want to have those popping commercial heavily contrasted colouyrs. Therefore you need to get a Nikon for 4 times more the price I guesse. I payd 335 Euro's and although I had never had any item from Minolta, now I think the managers from Canon and Nikon feel a bit ****** ** to have this kind of competition :) Minolta, go on in making photography a more affordable hobby!
