Strength:
Very well built. Long enough rangefinder base. Silent for a motorised camera. Film loading is very easy and fast. Viewfinder not as bright as Leica or Bessa R but very useable. You can see all the information in the viewfinder eeven if you wear glasses. Autoexposure very convenient. Can use many very good lenses (eg. Leitz).
Weakness:
Apparently focuses past infinity with non Konica lenses (it happened to me with Voigtlander screw mount lenses with adapter ring). It does not bother me, but flash capabilities are not up to date. I think that this camera is a very good compromise between Contax Gs and manual Leica and Voigtlander Bessa R rangefinders. I eventually sold my Contax G camera because the viewfinder is too small and manual focusing is very inconvenient, while autofocus does not always work properly and you cannot notice it if you don't check the focusing scale in the viewfinder. Autoexposure and motorised film advance render this camera much more easy and fast to use than Leica or Bessa R. Build quality is much better than Bessa R, better than Contac G and almost on par with Leica. Very recommended. Customer Service I have not tried it so far. Strength:
Excellent quality and value for money. Good autoexposure system and very silent camera. Excellent set of lenses.
Weakness:
Poor, no TTL, Flash (shame on you Konica!). Viewfinder could be brigther. If you want an excellent rangefinder camera and do not want to spend "Leica" money go out and get the Konica Hexar RF! Customer Service Never tried. Similar Products Used: NIKON F5, Mamiya, Hasselblad |
