Strength:

Lens, lens and the lens! Easy to take along for party pics and people shots

Weakness:

Buttons on back could be a little larger for flash mode selection.

Really a fine camera for the money! I had a Canon Sure shot 120 ($221 2 years ago!) and sent it back due to poor quality of pics. It never gave me suitable pics at all. Trying now to get rid of it on Ebay. The Epic delivers some of the finest, sharpest and well exposed pics I have ever taken. As good as my Canon Rebel 35mm SLR. East to take out; just shot July 4th pics last nite. Can't wait to see results. My first two rolls were spectacular with good depth of field, exposure great and clear as a bell. Fantastic lens on this camera. I am convinced the lens is the secret; f2.8 is fast and accurate. Buy one (or two) or they will not be available sometime in the future. I plan to buy another for a back-up in case something happens. A great value!

Strength:

Ease of Use Solid Takes Fujichrome velvia 50 Fantastic lens Has a spot meter

Weakness:

None

Ease of use; compact; great lens not found in any other p/s; solidly build. This camera even takes fujichrome velvia ISO 50. The best pics I've seen from any p/s and even most SLR cameras. Hint: Use fujichrome velvia 50, spot metering, no flash, and a tripod and you will have fantasticly sharp, brilliant photos for a fraction of the cost of a 35mm SLR.

Customer Service

No need. So inexpensive, if it malfunctions (which is not likely), just buy another one.

Strength:

The flash modes such as fill or turn off flash. Size: just throw it in your pocket. The quality of the lenses is not expected for less than $100. It's ability to to get the most out of slow film (ISO 100) which you can not find in P/s cameras.

Weakness:

I would like to be able to use filters and set my own ISO.

I just ran a roll of Fuji 100 superia through my new Olympus Epic with the 35/2.8 lens. This is a great little camera with an outstanding lens. I used it to shoot lake shoots on Memorial day (boat and pub people shoots). This camera was made to carry in your pocket and really shines with slow film and fill flash. I was able to get some great on the boat shots using the fill flash as well as outdoor pub shots on an overcast day and dusk. You can push this camera to the limit for a point and shoot. This is an ideal little camera for the photog whose gear tends toward a heavy 35mm or like me who uses all manual gear.

Strength:

1) Very short shutter lag 2) Very sharp images 3) Smallest 35 mm form factor 4) Water resistant 5) Fast lens allows use of ISO 100 film 6) Very inexpensive

Weakness:

1) Lens coating could be better 2) Camera resets flash settings upon power down

This is a very good little camera. It is IMHO superior to the much vaunted Yashica T-4 which I used until I gave it to my mother.

Great camera! great lens! great quality! OK image quality is not as good as a leica or a minox. But hey, this thing costs about 100$... It is easy to use and produces good images. There is even a certain amount of control by the spot meter. It is very solid.

Strength:

first rate lens spot metering small pocketable size and clamshell design

Weakness:

buttons too small viewfinder is a little inaccurate (too narrow for image)

This camera, together with the Canon EOS 50mm, f/1.8 II lens, are probably the best bargains I've run across in photography. In fact, I bought a second one I liked it so much. The lens is quite sharp and often provides better resolution than my SLR zoom. It leaves my Pentax 928 IQZOOM (original model) in the dust at all focal lengths. Also compares very favorably with a Yashica T4 Super I tested. I use the spot metering (sans flash) most of the time and find it quite effective, though, as others have noted, the buttons to activate it are not easy to use. No complaints about the flash, except that sometimes in the night scene flash mode it seems to cause overexposure. I get great results in low light using some of the new generation of 800 speed films (e.g., Fuji NPZ and Superia, Kodak Supra and Versatility Max).

Strength:

Great 35mm/2.8 lens Very compact size Great flash Spot meter works well

Weakness:

All automatic, no manual control. that's really it!

I bought this to use as an everyday throw-in-your-pocket kind of camera, but I found that a lot of the pictures I've gotten are indistinguishable from ones I've taken with SLRs. This is a great lens on this compact camera. The only thing I wish is that there were some options for manual control, but you learn how to get it to do what you want after a break0in period.

Great camera! Excellent f2.8 lens. All pics turned out well so far. Some shutter delay with red eye reduction turned on. Spot meter great for off-center subject.

Strength:

Sharp fast lens, Spot metering, weatherproof, size and looks

Weakness:

None for the price

A fantastic little camera. Never fails to produce great results. The lens is very sharp with large aperture (f:2.8) for good available light photography (much better than all the tiny aperture zoom cameras). Spot metering is a great feature enbling the correct exposure even in tricky lighting conditions. The camera is very small and pocketable yet still easy to handle. The weatherproofing make you confident to take it anywhere and it feels quite solidly built. I've been using mine for 6 years now and never had any problems, just very beautiful photographs.

Strength:

Small, compact & weatherproof. Fast, sharp lens with good contrast. Durable- has worked unfailingly for the past four+ years without problems. Spot meter (!) Fast quiet AF.

Weakness:

On the not so good side is the mode buttons. They are extremely small and its hard to depress these rubberised buttons except with finger nails.

I bought this camera when my first Olympus Mju (Stylus) was stolen. This camera, the Mju II (or Sylus Epic) was even smaller and lighter than the original. Have had this camera for more than four years. It is small & compact and is my 'take everywhere camera'. The lens is a fast 35mm f2.8. Loaded with ISO400 film, it is able to handle most situations easily. For a P&S lens, performance is excellent - it produces sharp, clear pictures without fail. Autofocus is fast with little lag. Finally, this P&S has a spot meter mode which has come in very handy for tricky light situations.
