Strength:

Light, good for travelling, case slides over lens, big zoom, landscape mode

Weakness:

motion shots (I was taking them from a Zodiac) turned out blurry

I went travelling to the Antarctic and brought this camera along. I didn't have a chance to try it out before the trip, but I was pleased with the results. Outdoor shots of snow, ice and penguins all turned out, indoor shots were also clear and crisp. The only problem is some motion shots, taken from a slightly moving Zodiac did not turn out. I also brought this camera to a prom to take pictures, using the Fuji Superia 800 film (excellent film) and all of my pictures turned out (except one that had a mirror in the background reflecting a flash). I also used Kodak 200 film with very good results. This camera is great for throwing in your purse, backpack or pocket to take pictures on the go and I don't think it should be treated as a replacement for an expensive SLR.

Strength:

The lense is beautiful, very sharp as sharp as Nikon 35Ti

Weakness:

The rest of the body does not work that well.

Very sad the first roll of film, pictures turn out beautifully I was so happy then put in a second roll of film close the back of camera it didn't take it, no movemen I changed the batt but still didn't move to the first frame try and try so I had to take it back to Sammy's they gave me a brand new one.One week later I did some shooting, pictures come out sharp and clear I said to myself this one is for keep. Then a week after I wanted to take it to the B/D party, put he film in works perfect but when I looked up to the screen I saw nothing just blsnk(dial)Here we go again changing to the new batt, try almost every thing Won't help.I tookit back to Sammy's they're so kind let me traded in for PentaxDo you know I learn some thing only THE GOOD NIKONS COME FR0M JAPAN NOT FROM THE CHEAP LABORS COUNTRY JUST LIKE MY F.100 AND 35TI THEY'RE MADE IN JAPAN....

Strength:

Light, compact, good optics, cheap for a Nikon.

Weakness:

Slow lens. weak flash. Poor choice of focal lengths.

Overall, this camera has been a bit of a disappointment, not so much in any individual area but rather in the combination of features.
Zoom
First of all, the zoom is neither wide angle enough to take decent panoramas (or even for indoor architectural photography) nor is it telephoto enough for sports, wildlife or kid photography. The 38mm setting feels a lot narrower than the 35mm lenses on my other cameras. My Minolta 35-105mm SLR zoom feels like it has more range. Given the choice I would rather take a "true" 28-85 lens over this one. Aperture
Secondly, the lens is frustratingly slow. If you go with the kind of film that allows you to take advantage of the lens quality - such as ASA 100 or 200 - the flash is necessary in all but optimum lighting conditions. As the flash is small and limited in range, this places significant limitations on what you can successfully photograph. You can work around this by using fast (800) film, which is what I have done, however this is at the expense of print quality - which tends to negate the sharpness of the lens.
I don't mind the cheap feel too much. I take care of my cameras and this has not given any trouble.
I generally use this camera in situations where space or weight preclude me taking my SLR's. I work around the limitations as best as I can but do regret this purchase.

Strength:

Great lens! Very sharp and colors are beautiful! I took it to Europe with me and almost every picture turned out great. Nikon never breaks the promise with this camera, you can do with this camera exactly what
manual says you can do with it. This is probably why some people hate it, they just trying to do what
this camera was never intended for: action shots, night photography etc.
I have Nikon N60 SLR and
LiteTough can complete with it in many ways with no problem.

Weakness:

No power off switch, loo
light to my taste.

Looking for a camera which takes ultra-sharp pictures with vivid, true colors (great ED lens), has great zoom and weights almost nothing, has Nikon trademark on it - get Litetouch 120ED

Strength:

Better than most lens quality. Reasonably well-made. Good value.

Weakness:

Terrible maximum aperature!

After reading the previous reviews, I was compelled to put in my "two cents". I have owned my Nikon LiteTouch 120 ED/QD since last winter. I use it on the slopes while skiing, or any other activity that I don't want to be a slave to my Nikon SLR system. First of all, a reality check! Comparing a $200.00 point & shoot to a $700.00 Contax T3 or a $850.00 Leica is totally unrealistic. If this little Nikon took photos as well as these "high-end" point and shoots, they wouldn't build 'em, right? I have never expected the 120 ED to perform anywhere near the likes of my Nikon F100's and FM2's, but for the money, it performs admirably! I have NEVER experienced any of the problems listed by other reviewers on this site. I found that the film is the "proof of the pudding", along with pro processing. I use Fuji Press CH 400 print film. It makes-up for some of the 120 ED's shortcomings. Granted, f:10.5 at 120mm is horrendous, but it's the norm for all brands of p&s cameras within this focal length and price catagory. For $200.00, you will be hard pressed to find a better camera in this genre. The lens in the 120 ED are slightly superior to most brands, which is why they have a plastic body instead of metal. The money is in the lens. All I can say is try one for yourself, and if it isn't what you expect, than return it. I like mine when it's used for the purpose for which it was intended, high quality SNAP SHOTS.

Customer Service

Never needed for any Nikon I own.
