Strength:
compact, lightweight, easy to operate
Weakness:
flash inconsistencies, intermittent miserably colored shots, poor quality I loved this camera at first. Good quality pictures for a p/s, lightweight, and simple to use. A perfect addition to my heavier Nikon with multiple lenses. But I did notice intermittent colorless or dark exposures while using the flash even though battery indicator showed no problem. This became quite a problem since I used fill flash for even outside work. Then with only 1 year of use and no injury to camera, the door latch stuck closed and the camera suddenly would not read or advance film. Currently I'm waiting for the repair figures but was given a pre-estimate of between $100-200 to repair. I would not buy this camera again. |

Strength:
Area auto-focus, spot focus, target focus easy to use and very sharp. Lightweight. Pocketable.
Weakness:
Paint rubs off easily. Oh well... I didn't know what to expect from this lightweight little camera from Minolta. I took it to Florida as a back-up to my two digital cameras. I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the shots. The area auto focus is dead-on. I panned along with two flying pelicans, then shot when they were aside of me. It froze them in motion perfectly. Fun! Customer Service The lens cover did not retract after about 10 rolls. Sent it back to Minolta, got it back in three weeks. Great! Strength:
Small size, build quality, super sharp lens, perfect metering - and it's super quiet.
Weakness:
I haven't found even one. If you get anything less then super photos from this camera, you're doing something wrong - and that would be difficult since it's so intuitive and easy to use. This is one of the best point and shoots that I've ever used. It's amazingly compact, very well put together, and the lens and metering are fantastic. The eye start and focusing system are top of the line. I'll put my money on Minolta anytime, and have never been disappointed. Customer Service Used them once for an 800si SLR that malfunctioned right out of the box. They send me a brand new one. The people at their Cypress, California, service center are nice and very helpful. My experience is that Minolta really cares about its customers. Couldn't take a decent picture. This is the worst camera I have ever used. Simple, easy to focus, lots of features. Terrible photos! Either out-of-focus, grainy, or the flash didn't work properly. One picture out of 24 was ok. |
