Strength:

- Size. - Feels comfortable in hands. - Quick in every sense (my other Minolta is much slower for all operations). - Safety lock that prevents opening when film is inside. - Outdoor pictures are incredible. - Multi autofocus. - Anybody can use it without the risk of getting blurry or out of focus pictures. - Price I paid, thus ratio quality/price is unbeatable...

Weakness:

- Zoom makes only four intermediate stops, and that is all. - Anti red eye system much worse than on my older minolta freedom. - Very limited flash power for indoor pictures. - Lens protector looks flimsy. Don't take your camera to the beach just in case ! - Made in China... (is that a guarantee as far as quality control is concerned ?)

I can say I read lots and lots of reviews before opting for this camera. Finally, got it for an incredible price. I could have gotten the 150 version, but it would have cost me 35 dollars more, so... The reason I got this one was because I did not see any negative review anywhere for this specific model, and I thought overall I could hardly go wrong. Oh, and this is not the panoramic/date version. After four rolls of pictures shot in different conditions, my conclusion is that you end up getting what you pay for. By that, I mean that you can hardly expect the perfect camera for a "low" price, regardless of the price I paid, which happens to be exceptionally low. The camera works GREAT on the outside, but fails completely on the inside. Why ? Because the anti red eye doesn't work. Most of the pictures taken with flash (3 flashes) are horrible. People look like vampires. And we are not talking about people who have scandinavian looks. My son, my wife and I look like Mediterranean Europeans, so, you can't put the blame on genetics. This was a huge diappointment since the previous camera I used (and still have) worked almost perfectly from that point of view. Now, to the other part, the outside : pictures are incredible. Very sharp, great colours. You can hardly tell the difference between those and pictures taken with a Maxxum 5 for instance. The camera is also very easy to use and is better than my other Minolta on one point : The multi autofocus prevents pictures taken by a non-expert to be repulsively missed. I haven't had a single picture out of focus or blurry of the four rolls I've used. I even gave it to my Father who went to Mexico and I can tell you that he got incredible pictures of sundown in the Acapulco bay. Knowing my Father, that says a lot about the camera. Overall, don't expect miracles if you take lots of indoor pictures. Use something else if you really need to have souvenirs of special occasions, unless you might be disappointed. Besides that, it is a great camera, and convenient too (fits in any pocket of your trousers).

Customer Service

Have not had to use it, and hopefully never will have to (that will be a good sign).

Strength:

I love the small size. It can even fit in your pocket. The quality of the pictures and colors is excellent.

I love this camera! I traveled for two months last summer in many locations across the world and I couldn''t have been happier with the quality of my pictures. The colors are brilliant, the objects are sharp, and the camera moves really quickly.

Strength:

compact..perfect for purse or diaper bag!! Sharp pictures great color.

Weakness:

have had slight problems with film catching...watch and make sure it advances to 1

My husband had at first bought me the Minolta 115..like a few other people''s reviews it too, scratched my film so photo''s came out with a line across the top AND the camera wouldn''t catch the film. I took it back SEVERAL times and finally (because I had the service agreement)allowed me to "trade" it in. I didn''t get the 115, instead I got the 125...figured it was more zoom for a small added cost. I hae been VERy pleased with the pictures. I ALWAYS get compliments on them. They are sharp and clear and the color is GREAT! A bit of advice I would pass on to ANYONE looking to buy a camera, spend the little bit extra and get the service agreement!!!

Strength:

clear, sharp images beautiful colors no red-eye smooth zoom easy to change settings small enough to take anywhere

Weakness:

nighttime setting always includes red-eye reduction

I bought my camera the day before I left for a 7-week trip to Australia (knowing this was a risky move.) I chose it above the Nikon LiteTouch 120 because the Minolta gave me a slightly wider zoom range, better value, and came more highly recommended at all 3 camera stores I went to. I took 17 rolls of film on my trip using the Minolta. I only used Fuji 400 film and all the pictures came out great. The snapshots were much sharper and had better colors than anything I''ve taken with my Canon Elan. I tried some close-up shots as well, particularly of flowers. Those came out about half the time - many were blurry, probably due to wind or movement. I never really expected a point and shoot to do close-ups at all though. I almost always have red-eye in photos, but even with the red-eye option turned off, it didn''t occur on anyone in any of my pictures with the Minolta. Though it was frustrating to have the flash go off 4-5 times with night shots since the night setting includes red-eye reduction, all the night shots came out well. My camera has the panaoramic option as well, but I''ve never used it since I could just as easily crop a photo later. A couple things to be careful of... If the film isn''t at quite the right spot, the camera won''t grab it when loading and you''ll wind up with a roll of unused film. Be sure to look for the 1 on the readout to make sure it loaded properly. If a 0 is still blinking, open it up, pull out a little bit more film and try again. It was never a problem, just something to be aware of. Also, make sure to set the date before taking any pictures. I hate having the date stamped on my pictures and didn''t bother setting it for awhile. However, until you set it, it will automatically stamp a random time on your photos. Once it''s set, you can turn the date stamp off and it will stay off. On previous trips to Ireland and France I always used disposable cameras. Now I can''t believe I did... I wish I had this camera years ago! If you''re looking for a good camera to travel with or just to take snapshots at family functions, buy this camera.

Strength:

Picture clarity & sharpness. Nice size.

Weakness:

No diopter No Infiniti setting

My camera is not the panorama version. This camera takes superb snap shots. The pictures are clear and sharp. I''m happy with the picture quality. The view finder could be a bit bigger, and a diopter would be nice. Aside from my scratch problem, which is probably just a minor film tension or pressure ajustment, this camera is great.

Customer Service

Purchased 10/31/01. Mailed back to Minolta to check for scratched picures. (3) rolls has a scratch running across the top of each snap shot.

Great P&S camera. The proof is in the pictures. Amazingly clear, crisp, with good colors. Adjusting viewfinder for close-ups a little tricky. Shutter release button a little sensitive. Overall, the BEST P&S I've come across. I wonder if the 150 would produce the same results? (4x; 6 element lens in 6 groups) Hmmm?

Strength:

Ease of use, small size and light weight. Excellent photo quality.

Weakness:

Active focus system prevents (or makes it quite tricky) to shoot through glass and get proper focus.

The version of this camera I have does not include the pararama option. I've shot about 10 rolls of film to date. I am pleased with the results. I have previously used SLR cameras but decided to get a point-and-shoot for a vacation to London. Once you learn the limitations of a point-and-shoot and how the camera works in regard to focusing and exposure control, the results can be as good as a mid-priced SLR.
