I bought my Fuji DL Super Mini Zoom four years ago in Tokyo as second small camera. Before it I have checked all market to compare Contax G2, TVS, TVSII, Leica Minilux and of course Minolta TC-1. The most I liked were TC-1 and TVSII. The last camera, which I tried, was Fuji. I was very surprised with this camera: small metal body, zoom 28-56, passive AF and MF, expose compensation, clear window and at last the film goes from left to right as in SLR!!! The Super-EBC Fujinon zoom lens quality is beautiful, very sharp and gives nice details in shadows. During four years I have shot hundreds of films and never had problem with Fuji. And now you could buy in B&H for only $120. I highly recommended this model for professionals especially for reporters and serious amateurs. Why not for everybody? Because as for me this camera is just like small friend for professionals and many amateurs don''t need a lot of features with it. Good luck.

Strength:

- 28 mm wide end
- Exposure control
- Manual Focus
- Metal construction
- Great lens
- Lense actually pre-focuses when you focus lock.

Weakness:

- Slow lens 4.5 - 6.9

I purchased this for my wife after her Stylus Epic broke after 1.5 years. It isn't as small but has metal construction, a great lense and a 3-year warranty. Got it at a great price ($120), can't go wrong. Has exposure control and manual focus when you need it. Produces sharp contrasty prints. Exposure meter seems to be very accurate.

Haven't needed it. I got the 3 year warranty.

Great size and great lens. More features than most people need...you buy this camera if you frequently are in tight spaces and want to photograph groups. A terrific camera for parties. I use B&W film and lens is sharp to 11 x 14 with hp5. Comes with a nice case and easy to take along.

Strength:

small
28mm with Flash
elegant design
user interface is cool- like digital cams

Weakness:

loud motor noises
somewhat fragile, but techy

Admittedly, I don't own one, but can vouch for the 28mm- similar to my Fuji Mini Dual from the early 90s. The 28mm is very sharp and has very little fall off. It is quite fast at f3.5 and can handhold in dim light. Images at 28mm have fineline sharpness and outdoor scenery photos (green) register accurate- can see grass, not just a bushy lawn. Close focus, however, does not work that well on my model. Not much experience with it at 55mm. The lens is good and resists flare well- good coating/sharp lens.

Strength:

Accurate AF, no shutter lag if AF lock is used, great lens, good range of features, compact and light, well constructed, nice flash/ambient light balance, excellent metering

Weakness:

slow at short end (28/4.5), multi function button a little fiddly, flash fires quite often, even in bright sunlight

Have had mine for 3 years since my daughter was born. It's been maltreated, but still works a treat. AF is accurate, Super EBC lens is a gem, and metering is really very good for a P&S. Have no regrets, can be had for less than USD150 now - a true bargain!!

Strength:

This camera is a gem for $150. It takes really sharp pictures and is easy to use. It also has some manual features that most point-and-shoots don't like exposure compensation, +/-2ev in .5 ev steps, manual focus (and auto focus), and seems to do a good job of filling in just the right amount of flash to avoid glare and reflection. Its quiet and compact as well. I also like the way the film loads - it unwinds the whole roll to the spool and pulls it back into the canister as you take pictures. If you open the back accidently, the pictures you took are safe in the canister. It produces good colour balance and saturation as well. Don't put crappy film in this thing, you would be doing it a disfavour.

Weakness:

Could use a longer zoom - out to 100 would be nice. Perhaps that would sacrifice quality?

I like this camera for what it is. It won't replace my Nikon, but it goes with me when I travel for business. I have taken some keeper pictures with it on the road. I've tried it with Astia and Royal Gold and couldn't have been more surprised. I do think the old Rollei 35 takes more "world class images" with its Zeiss lens, but this is a close second. I've seen some complaint about its edge-to-edge performance, but I have some images in front of me that have none of these characteristics. This thing shines.

Nice metal body. Lens cover is a sliding door that protects front of camera very well. Very sharp lens with EBC coating that handles flare well. Manual focus capability.

Weakness:

Some light falloff at wide angle setting in bright sunlight

Nice little P/S for the money and looks nice too.

I think I am going to love this camera for general shooting. I needed a versatile auto focus camera and this is it. It produces great color and I have found the focusing unit to be very accurate. I recommend this camera for anyone wanting a reliable camera with no real disappointments.

Strength:

Definetly in the value. This camera can be picked uo for under $200. I purchased the camera for $149 and then received the $20 rebate offered at the time. Many features in it's compact size. The 28-56mm is a good range, and it is always a plus to be able to override the auto functions. Great camera to carry around. Optics pretty good.

Weakness:

I would like it better if the prefered settings stayed and not revert to the fully auto after the camera has been shut off. Body is a bit too smooth and run the risk of dropping it, definetly should use the strap. Biggest weakness s that it doesn't have aperature control. Maual focus is pretty tricky, almost useless.

For the mony it is a great deal. I bought this camera for my wife and she loves it. It is very stylish and sturdy. This camera is geared toward the advanced amature. Though it helps to know what you are doing to utilize all its functions. It has override functions so if the need to have creative control arises, but not a camera to take too seriously. But lets be serious, given the current prices for point n shoots, you definetly get your money worth out of this camera. You get more than what you pay for.

Strength:

Small -- fits in a pocket
Inexpensive
Exposure compensation
Manual focus
Wide angle (28 mm)
Good quality photos

Weakness:

Only zooms to 56 mm (2X zoom)
Need to turn flash off a lot
Not a fast lens -- use ISO 400 film
Sliding lens cover can bend if pressed/hit

I wanted to buy a small P&S camera with a good lens and a reasonable amount of manual control. I was drooling over the Contax TVSIII until I saw the price (gak!). This camera cost me 1/8 of what the TVS cost, it has all the same manual controls except aperture priority, it's just as small and looks just as good, the lens is sharp and almost as fast, and if it breaks or someone steals it, I won't cry. I'm happy as heck.
