Strength:
Small size Flash can be switched off
Weakness:
Picture quality - poor sharpness, prone to flare Flash is awful, especially coverage Widest setting 38mm - not enough indoors Plasticky p&s from well-known factory. The camera is small and light but the picture quality is the major drawback. With the same price you can buy Rollei Prego 90 which is superior - optics, flash, zoom range, etc. Customer Service Never used Similar Products Used: Rollei Prego 90 |

Strength:
Ease of use. Low price.
Weakness:
Flimsy. Average all round results - colour reproduction, not pin sharp pictures, non wide angle setting still flattens out mountain shots. I read the other reviews here and went for this camera after having considered a number of others including Pentax Espios. After 2 films I''m now going back to SLR for image sharpness. This camera, though easy to use and low price didn''t give me better results than an old compact 35mm (Hanimex, over 20 years old) which I''ve had to recently retire due to a problem with its shooting button. This Canon gave pretty average results all round - colours not too vibrant in the mid range, sharpness of image was pretty poor. I also found the lens, even when not in wide angle, still flattened out mountains to make grand peaks mere mole hills! ("It took you all day to walk up that", friends say with a puzzled look on their face!) To cap it all, despite extremely careful use, part of the hinge on the back (where the film is loaded) has fallen off. If the other part of the hinge falls off, I''ll be forced to bin the camera. Customer Service Will soon find out. Similar Products Used: An old Hanimex compact 35mm. Pentax Program A SLR (also pretty ancient) |

Strength:
The camera takes sharp pictures in different lighting situations. If you have a tripod, you could even turn the flash off and get some quality pictures in darker conditions and avoid over exposure.
Weakness:
Seem to drain batteries (lithium) very quickly and limit your zoom capabilities. Takes a while to focus. When you ask people to take pictures for you, they never get the part about holding the trigger down half way to focus before pushing it all the way down and the pictures end up blurry. It's a compact and lightweight camera. As long as you're not taking too many pictures of moving objects, it's a worthwhile investment. Customer Service N/A Similar Products Used: Yashica T4 |

Sure Shot 85 Zoom
Strength:
the zoom buttons are located in the perfect place-on the front!
Weakness:
I take close ups of my kids and with this camera they come out white as ghosts due to flash overload. Then if you turn the flash off you have to use a tripod or the picture comes out blurry. Also all the other photos are bright in the center and very dark on the outside. Unless my camera is the only one with a flash problem, I really would not recomend it, especially if you want to take indoor pictures of people. Customer Service Tried to be helpful-told me to turn on more lights so the pictures would'nt be washed out (not that it's practical advice) Similar Products Used: Elph |

Sure Shot 85 Zoom
Strength:
Excellent analog mode selector - non-toggle menu
Weakness:
Poor build quality, too much plastic, very slow autofocus It is very nice not to have to push a tiny, mushy rubber button 5 times to get into the mode you want - push one too many and you start over. Canon is onto a good design here. If they made the same camera with a solid build and fast autofocus it would be my favorite. I use the Olympus Epic Stylus because it is twice as fast and I don't miss pictures. I wish anyone made a fast autofocus zoom. Similar Products Used: Olympus Epic, Yashica T4 |

Strength:
Pictures quality
Weakness:
38mm not 28mm I agree with 11-20 yrs from USA. Pictures from my Canon 85 are better than the ones from my Nikon 65QD. I bought 65QD b/c I wanted to trade up to a SLR and hoping maybe even better pictures. I was wrong. Unfortunately I gave my Canon 85 away. So I am thinking about buying another Canon 85 b/c it is easy to carry around and pictures are great. |
