645N Medium Format Auto Focus Body
Strength:
Variety of metering modes for different situations. The SPOTMETER mode is deadly accurate. Enlargements razor sharp, lenses provide supberb contrast and color saturation. Large assortment of lenses. The predictive autofocus feature has been a lifesaver on a number of occasions.
Weakness:
Mid-roll film change and 1/60 sync speed. However, this has never been a hindrance in the photography that I have done. Excellent camera for portraits and weddings. I have also used it for landscapes with the AF 45mm lens. I own the AF 80-160mm and the AF 75mm. All photos always razor sharp. Customer Service Most commendable. A particular lenses that I needed for a special assignment would most likely not arrive on time (it ultimately did). The Pentax area rep loaned me an entire Pentax 67II outfit, including a variety of lenses (including one that I needed) and flash unit. Never really got to use since the 645N lens I had ordered arrived on time. I consider this "above and beyond". Similar Products Used: Bronica, Hasselblad. Also use a 35mm Canon. |

Strength:
Reliable, great ergonomic design, very accurate metering system, focus confirmation even with older manual lenses, motor drive system.
Weakness:
Lack of midroll change/interchangable backs may be a problem for some users. I originally started in medium format with a Pentax 67 after briefly living with a Mamiya. My photography is primarily landscape and stockwork. I desired larger, sharper images than even the most advanced 35mm systems could deliver so medium format was my next step. I was not disappointed by the image quality of the 67 but it was heavy and I had difficulty focusing sharply because of my inability to clearly view the image on the 67 viewfinder. Weakness:
Haven't found any yet except the inability to change film types mid-roll Great, well engineered medium format camera for people, weddings, and general shooting. Customer Service Bought the camera used and have had no problems with it at all. Similar Products Used: Had a Pentax 6X7 before this camera |

Imprinted data on the film edge out side of the image area. Excelent meter.
Weakness:
60th sec. max flash synch speed when using an AF lens. Film inserts vice interchangable backs means you can't switch mid roll to B&W. More bang for your buck! The least expensive AF MF on the market. Stands up feature for feature with the big boys. Nice entry level MF and good for pro use. Customer Service Shooting with it for over a yr with no prob. Fast, accurate auto-focusing. Very sharp lenses which are quite reasonably priced.
Weakness:
Some would prefer interchangable backs--but this is not much of a concern to me. It would be nice to have a Polaroid back, though. A very capable camera and the AF lenses are remarkably sharp. Customer Service No problems yet(1 year). Similar Products Used: I sold my extensive Mamiya 645 system to buy the Pentax 645N system.I am happy I did. My Mamiya cameras/ lenses were con |

Weakness:
None Outstanding camera system. The only thing missing is a removable back, so I could switch mid roll from color to black and white. I will be purchasing the 80-160mm zoom which looks and feels great ( I currently have the 75/2.8 FA and 135 L.S. ) Similar Products Used: I also own and use Mamiya 645 super which is also an excellent system, but I find myself using the Pentax more often in |

Strength:
compact (for a MF camera, of course), not too expensive (lens too), ergonomic, well finished
Weakness:
slow flash sync, can't change film half exposed, sometimes matrix overexposes a bit Definitely, this camera works well, is very, VERY intuitive and SUPER easy to use. Autofocus, even if not as sofisticated as some 35mm cameras', is precise and quiete fast. Try to choose right lenses... Customer Service never called Similar Products Used: Rollei |

Strength:
Very good auto-focusing. Very comprable to 35mm cameras. Small, lightweight, feels great in your hands. Very agile and nimble. Lot easier to use then say Pentax 67II. Easy controls that make photography what it should be. Strong body, well made, steardy, and very quiet for medium format. I would get this over anything else.
Weakness:
No interchangeable backs. No big deal! Synch speed kind of slow but other than that it is awesome!!! The bottom line is, this camera is fabtabulous and known to be a strong workhorse!! My photographer used the manual one for five years and not one problem with it. If you ever need to buy one, I would recommend Roberts Camera in Indianapolis Indiana. They are so nice and really treat their customers like royalty. 317 636-5544 ask for Bruce. Customer Service Excellet!! Similar Products Used: Mamiya 645AF, Pentax 67II, Nikon F100, Nikon N90s. |
