Great handling, wonderful components,

Weakness:

none so far, a little odd with the Mamiya flash bracket and a Metz 55 though

Great camera that is not terribly heavy.

Strength:

Large Neg
handles nicely
interchangeable backs
great lens selection

Weakness:

slow (1/60) flash sync

It's a very nice, fast handling (for a med format) camera. Interchangable backs are a big plus. Too bad about the slow sync speed.

Strength:

Love the camera. Can be hand held, feature rich, outstanding overall.

Weakness:

rather large with a Metz flash attached and the caps that cover the flash sockets can be easily lost.

Buy it.

Strength:

Great handling, good value for money, great choice of lenses, lots available on the used market.

Weakness:

None in 10 years

One of a few 645 cameras that handles like a 35 (okay -- a big, heavy 35) but those big negatives are a joy to work with.

Strength:

Easy usage, small & Compact. Very sharp images.

Weakness:

- Sloww sync. Speed
- Requires Battery to operate
- Shutter Speed range too little.

Initially, there was a focusing problem (technical fault by Mamiya), but overall after fixing the camera, it really gives excellent results. The camera will be ideal if it can operate without the battery and have a wider range of shutter speed selections.

Customer Service

Strength:

Huge system.
Good range of decent lenses.
Rugged feel.

Weakness:

Bulky, not very smooth handling.

Hate to pee on anyone's parade but... Never liked or enjoyed this camera. Didn't feel like a step up from Contax SLR's. Probably had the low end lenses in this system, they didn't please me (45/55/80/150) and I ended up selling it after a lengthy trip with it. I now have a Mamiya 7 and I am a very, very happy camper. Still it is good value for money, second hand I must admit.

Strength:

Great Image Quality
Easy to use
Comprehensive System

Weakness:

Mirror Slap
Slow sync speed unless using the leaf shutter lenses.

After shooting 35mm for many years, I think the 645 negative is great. I would recommend this camera to anyone stepping up to medium format. I shoot a lot of weddings and I find it a great system to use on location. The TTL feature is also great since a large percentage of my wedding shots are done with flash. It's a little tough to go back to manual focusing after using my F5 but that is just being spoiled by autofocusing.

Strength:

good programm, many different lenses, rangefinders,.... cheap 2nd hand prices - therefore I bought one
I use the super body, the mechanical time 1/60 and a long lasting batteries are a plus, no TTL flash a minus
Not to heavy

Weakness:

Lens 210 very sharp but use it manual, because the diaphragma does not close down always in the Automatic mode(construction problem)
The quality of the lenses is not so great, mainly the wide angle lenses, also the shift 50 mm was not so good.
Try Wise Fototechnik inWinsbergring 36a, D-22525 Hamburg, he offers a 45 mm Shift and Tilt optic which is cheaper than the mamiya !
Mirror slap is hard, with a 500/5,6 lens i could not get a sharp picture from any tripod, mirror release is a must

A good starter Medium format camera, but I always think if I should change to an another kamera with sharper lenses, but so far I did not find any that I can afford.

Strength:

Easy handling, good lenses and accessories.
High quality images.
Intuitive controls for experienced camera users.

Weakness:

Sync. speed with non-leaf shutter lenses.
Easily overcome with use of leaf shutter lenses ( at additional cost)

An excellent product which meets the needs of any 645 format user.

With AE prism finder, an easy camera for those moving up from 35mm. With leaf shutter lens, the slow sync. speed can be easily overcome.

Customer Service

Very good. Daymen Canada was very responsive to a request for part and Mamiya Amercia extremely helpful with advice.
