Reading the other comments on this camera, I believe most people expect too much from one camera, especially the 24mm format. I own a medium format for my best work, a Nikon for my keeper work and for quality 35mm work, and the Elph is my wife's carry everywhere camera. Each has limitations, but I bought the Elph for its size, ease of APS loading, the zoom, and the quality of the metal case. Does it match my medium format or Nikkor lens for sharpness? Of course not, but does it take acceptable, reliable photographs in a credit card size camera? The answer is yes and it meets those requirements. Buy photographic equipment to meet your needs, and remember that not one camera / system will meet them all.

Strength:

Cute, cute, cute. Camera exudes quality finishing. Small package is easy to carry and high quality carrying case adds to ease of use.

Weakness:

Picture quality is so poor that I prefer to haul around and SLR. Red eye in so many shots to make decent picturetaking difficult. It is certainly a well made and cute camera but the picture quality is so much worse than even other 35mm P&S cameras that I have used to make the Elph a large disappointment.

If picture quality is an issue find something else. Otherwise, this is a fine well made if overpriced camera.

Strength:

Its taken alot of verry nice landscape and outdoor portraits, using FUJI 200 and Kodak B&W. Small size is its best feature. You're able to take those candid shots, those wish you had a camera moments. An excelent everyday or travel camera.

Weakness:

Poor indoor/night time pictures. If you plan to take night shots bring a tripod and a remote control; these help steady the shot for those longer exposures. Some of the shots turn out blurry, usualy with Kodak MAX. But you cant realy expect SLR results from a point and shoots.

Get this camera..at its reduced price its a steal!! Read up on it or anything like it...the reviews are all the same people who had high hopes, paid too much or mis-handled the ELPH usualy end up giving it a poor review. Give it a chance wont be sorry..a great compliment to your SLR for your hobby.

Made in TAIWAN?!?!?!

Bought this camera the just nights before my trip to Hawaii..not knowing all that much about it and having no time to go through a test roll. Two weeks and 10 rolls of film later...I was quite surprised with my results. I would have to say at least 85% persent of the shots I took out doors came out from good to excellent. However less than half of the indoor shots came out well...none of my friends wedding pictures in the church turned out at all...but I think I can still adjust for this...by turning off the small and not-so bright flash and just using existing light and a tripod...have since bought a pocket size tripod and the remote. So, the jury is still out on this one..but from the all the photos that I've taken...maybe 20 rolls for the summer now..I am verry happy with this camera..I've taken pictures I normally wouldnt have been able to take with my bulky SLR or my other P&S...I've dropped it a few times on concrete and its still good...and I think I got it for quite a steal compared to its original price. You cant really expect any camera to take the pictures you want exactly how you imagine it will come out...especially not from a small point and shoot. This is a great little camera and would recomend it to anyone.

Customer Service

none..required thus far...woried about that flash and am reminded every time it makes that verry audible mechanical sound each time it pops up and down...this should be manually done
