Overall, this is a great camera for the price! I am just getting back into photography after a five-year break, and this camera has been a great starter. Has great color correction, and is ideal for 35mm black and white photography, especially for those with small budgets such as myself.

I purchased a fleet of these cameras for my high school photography classes for the manual controls and low price. The students seem to do alright with focusing and the meter is ok, but I prefer the old needle of the K1000.

One of the six camera lenses already seized up on me, the camera store replaced it no questions asked. I'm concerned about the longevity with it's plastic construction but have no other options in manual cameras

There is no other option. I have seen this exact camera under other names but can not find a new metal manual camera. The price is great (the store is now selling them to my students for $150) so if one is dropped no huge loss. Repairs on older cameras usually were close to that. I only have the 50MM lens so I can't speak to the zoom, but so far I am happy with the product.

We also use the EOS II with the advanced kids, but I would rather get back to more manual controls. I also use the Holga and a student model 120 TLR. I shoot with Mamiya 645 equipment for my wedding business

It's a great started. I've been shooting for quite a long time, but when I started needing my own camera, I needed something cheap. It takes good pictures. The lighted meter is great for when it's dark. It seems light and fragile, but as far as I know, it pretty tough for a starter. I know that I've dropped mine many times

The included lens is of extremely poor quality. The f-stop is high and the 35-70mm zoom is not needed. I would have rather had a fixed lens with bigger f-stop. It also has the K mount. When moving on to bigger and better camera, you have to get rid of your old lens, because neither vivtar or pentax makes a professional spec camera.

It's good for a beginner, but beyond that it's limited. If you just want something light and cheap that won't put a hole in your pocket, go for it. But if you think you might want to go on to bigger and better things, pick out a cheap beginner Nikon, so you can buy lens that will last you forever.

Good color, easy to use for a manual camera, and light.

Don't really like the lens that comes with the camera. Basically, what you can see with your eyes, is the same result you will get from the lens. Not much zoom.

Great camera for beginners at manual usage. Easy to learn; however, camera instructions that were included weren't very helpful. Limited in what you can do with it.
