Strength:

Small, light weight, solidly-built and easy to use. I couldn't read the Japanese user manual but still able to take photographs without problem. It has all the functions you needed for seriously taking photographs while excluding all the chaotic useless fancy functions. Good data imprinting function!

Weakness:

Price not competitive enough when comparing to F-100, Dynax 7 and EOS-3. There are bugs at the viewfinder LED display when the mirror lock-up function is activated. Batteries must be removed to get the display back to normal.

MZ-S is a classy, solid and compact SLR, which is designed best for outdoor travel. The silver version is an ideal upgrade choice for Pentax MZ-series users who have already owned the Limited Lenses.

Customer Service

Not exist at all as I am not living in Japan. Don't know how to get the bug solved.

Strength:

Lightweight durable Magnesium body,
useable Pentax functions, excellant AF, and the best depth of field prewiew button ever placed on a camera. Great feel with the BG-10 grip.
Pentax has finally built a suitable replacement for the famed LX. This camera is so properly put together, from the slanted dials to the shutter release on the battery grip,(optional). A total pleaseure to shoot with. And, finally, a body sync for studio flash. All in all an awesome camera.

Weakness:

Flash sync speed should be 1/250th as is the PZ1P, although I understand that the new AF360 will sync at 1/190th or somewhere along those lines.

A wonderfully made camera with excellant control positioning, a very comfortable vertical grip & shutter release. I'll take the Pentax, you can have the Nikon or the Canon.

Strength:

- Lightweight 520grams
- Rugged body
- construction
- easy controls
- Data imprinting on film
- accepts all manual lenses plus the autofocus range
- great handling
- no unneeded additives !

Weakness:

none: for outdoor use

for those who don't care for a booster (10 fps), and for those who want a camera that's light and easy to control, DON'T LOOK ANY FURTHER.
It is a great outdoor camera, rugged material, great lenses and accessories.
For all levels, excluding begginers( they can go for a canon, It does everything, It might walk by itself in the future ! ), No offence, Canons are great and are top choice for Sports photography.
But for outdoors, the MZ-S serves perfect and can last a lifetime if treated well

Strength:

Solid well built and compact
Excellent user interface
Easiest to use DOF on any camera
Excellent bacward compatibity with older lenses
built in flash - usefull for fill

Weakness:

Has a 2 second delay with mirror pre-lock, but would like mirror lock up as in LX.

Rugged well built and a pleasure to use. Unless you are looking for a 10 fps advance (who uses that?) this camera is a top choice for the serious 35 mm photographer.

Strength:

Very well laid out. Allows me to control my photography, not the camera. Solid build, solid design.

Weakness:

The camera does not have some of the "gimmick" features that other cameras in this class have. No problem, as most people do not use or need them.

This camera is a dream. I have used several other "Pro" type cameras and this one fits my bill. Everything about this camera, from the ultra convenient depth-of-feild preview to the slanted top to the lighted lens index, is set up to make the camera one that I control, not one that controls me. I have never had an easier, and more intuitive experience with a camera. The data imprinting is invaluable, and nicely done. I do suggest getting the BP-10 battery pack and vertical grip as it makes the camera a flexible joy to use.

Customer Service

I have called them twice to ask technical questions. Each was answered in a very friendly manner, and very completely.
