Strength:

Light, small, simple, no-nonsense, no gimmicks.

Weakness:

None that I can think of for the type of photography I do.

I was on the look-out for an Olympus Zuiko 35-70mm zoom lens to go on my OM-10. I checked on eBay and soon found the lens - sold together with an OM-20. I made the purchase. I already had some experience with the famous OM-10 (and the legendary Trip-35) - so I knew I couldn't go far wrong with another Olympus. And it proved right! The OM-20 is even smaller and lighter than the OM-10 - and has several refinements over the OM-10, such as the much improved viewfinder display, more managable controls, sturdier film speed/exposure compensation dial and no need for that wretched manual adaptor thing! Other than that it can do everything that the OM-10 can. To put it simply, the OM-20 is about as good as amateur manual SLR cameras ever got! It was perhaps the last of the manual greats. I have done all sorts of photography with the OM-20 - out-door architectural, indoor flash and macro work. No trouble whatsoever! When used with a Zuiko lens and a steady hand/tripod - you will obtain breathtakingly sharp pictures time after time.

Never required, luckily.

Strength:

zuiko lenses, handy led meter readout, otf metering on auto, aperture priority auto and manual, economical silver oxide batteries, reliable, good for general photography

Weakness:

fixed focus screen, loud and jarring mirror slap!, not suited to macro work

Its an amateur body camera like the om2n but without otf flash metering. It has a plastic top and bottom which makes the camera feel deceptively cheap and less rugged than the pro body om2. In 3 years of ownership i have never had a problem with the camera. it has a steel chassis and its built to cope with a 5 frame per second power winder so I think long term reliability shouldnt be a problem. its a nice handsome camera that has the benefit of both aperture auto and full manual. on the downside, the mirror slap is nowhere near as quiet as the om single digit cameras. its basic and simple which is ok by me

Customer Service

never needed it

Strength:

It is fairly small and lightweight true to the Olympus OM cameras. I have been able to purchase some very nice Zuiko lenses on the used market at bargain prices.

Weakness:

I haven''t encountered any yet.

I bought my OM-G in 1984. It has been a great little camera. It is a very reliable camera. I expect it to operate for many more years.

Customer Service

I was able to get a replacement copy of the instruction manual from Olympus Japan even though it has been out of print for many years.

Strength:

Small, light, sturdy- 100% OM. This little thing has all the features needed for any student or fine arts photographer. It won't amaze you with state of the art features like a Nikon wonderbrick, but who needs that stuff? Very affordable and usable camera. No battery drain problems like some other OM models.

Weakness:

No OTF metering, but I use my OM-2n for that. Viewfinder could show shutter and film speed, but where thisis only a small step in the OM line, I'm not going to complain.

Affordable and fully capable manual or automatic body. Pefect for the student or, as in my case, as a backup to another OM model. Available with the nice Zuiko 50mm 1.8 for around $100.

Customer Service

Not the greatest, but I haven't needed it anyway.

Strength:

Inexpensive, and an all around good performer. Light and accepts most of the OM system accessories. Apeture prefered or manual. Produces as good quality pics as any I've used.

Weakness:

Olympus speed dial is awkward. Close to the body, behind the lens. This is an Olympus thing, works okay, but top mounted speed dial is easier, such as the OM2000, but you learn to live with it.

Very good deal, inexpensive and able capable. Won't dazzle anyone with high tech features. A solid buy.

Strength:

Easy to use. Small size and light weight make it a really great SLR. I have been using my OM-G since 1985. Never had a problem. This is my favorite SLR and I use it most of the time. I have a 24mm, 28mm, 35-70mm zoom, two 50mm, 80-200mm, 135mm, 400mm, and 600mm lens plus I use a power winder.

Weakness:

Auto flash, I use my OM PC/OM40 with the T-32 flash, as the OM G in not auto with the T-32.

I would rate this one of the best out there, for the beginner who wants to learn the art of photograph, no gimicks, just a good SLR. I have seen these going on eBay for $50. to $75. what a deal. I would recomend this SLR to anyone, beginner or pro.

Customer Service

Never had any problems so have not used customer service.

Strength:

A very simple camera to use, if you're not bothered about autofocus and similar gizmos. Probably the lightest serious SLR, which is a great plus if you're walking great distances with it. The controls are easy to use and the metering system is very straightforwarward. Plus, it's quite cheap to pick up - I paid A$160 for one (1.8 lens) last year.

Weakness:

None that I've detected so far. well, maybe the manual metering switch that turns itself off automatically after 60 secs can be a nuisance sometimes - 120 secs would be more sensible, after all how much is a new 625 battery anyway?

I find the OM20 an old-fashioned camera to use, which is not a criticism because I dislike a lot of today's SLRs for their unnecessary complexity. It compares very favourably with a couple of my all-time favourite SLRs, the Spotmatic F and the Nikkormat FTn, in its ease of use and general all-round good design. Mine has the standard 1.8 Zuiko plus a couple of Carl Zeiss Jenazooms (made by Sigma I think) and everything fits very nicely and is "user friendly". For example, mine had no "owner's manual" when I picked it up secondhand, but it is the sort of camera that doesn't really need one - you can work it all out pretty quickly for yourself. The light weight is a definate bonus too!!!

Customer Service

The best you can find - that's to say I've never had any problem yet so wouldn't know!!!

clumsy controls.

A great basic camera which comes fairly cheap. Uncluttered by excess features and other breakable paraphenalia, buy it if you're the clumsy sort like me.

Strength:

Easy to use, Cheap, Great first SLR, auto(realy aperture priority) or full manual control

Weakness:

Much heavier than today's new SLR's, I had trouble figuring out how to work the ASA dial, too slow to use for fast moving subjects(manual focus and aperture, relatively slow top shutter speed)

This is a Great camera for the beginer up to an expert as long as you have time to manualy focus and it's low price makes it a great back up camera or a great camera for photographers on a limited budget

Customer Service

biggest problem I had was that the top of the ASA/exposure dial fell off, A couple of pieces of scotch tape fixed that, CS not known
