Nikon FM10 35mm SLRs

Nikon FM10 35mm SLRs

DESCRIPTION

If you want total manual control, the FM10 is a great choice. Select shutter speed and aperture. Use manual film advance and rewind manually. The Center-weighted light meter guides you towards a great exposure, but you have options to do it on your own. You focus manually and preview depth-of-field to see the image quality and sharpness. It's 100% your choice – a great way to learn and build confidence.

Strength:

Absolute control of every aspect of the techical taken of photo: sensibility of film, vision depth, diafr., speed, etc...

Weakness:

The photometer when in slow velocities (1/8-1 sec) goes crazy, completely. It is made in plastic (externally, internally is metallic) and I have never tried to crash it :))))

Good for beginners, absolutely manual, but if you want tyo be a PRO you'll have to change it after a few months!!

Strength:

Cheap, decently made camera. Makes a great stepping stone in the Nikon line, as it uses all of their excellent lenses.

Weakness:

For a casual user, who takes care of their equipment, there really aren't any that I've noticed.

A decent camera, that I'd recommend to anyone interested in starting out in photography.

fully manual for beginners.

Weakness:

cheaply made and very prone to breaking

STAY AWAY from this camera! It is very cheaply made and prone to breaking. My high school bought 30 FM10 bodies with 35-70mm lenses 18 months ago for use by photography students. Over half are now broken, most with stuck shutter release buttons. I also had my own FM10 for a short while (5 months) before I sold it and bought a Minolta; mine luckily did not break on me, but it broke a month later on the friend I sold it to. These cameras are NOT made by Nikon; they are made by either Tokina or Konica (sorry but the two names are very similar and i get them confused.) The camera is also at least priced double its worth, if not more.

I am a begineer and I have nikon fm10 with 35-70 lenses. I find it very easy to handel & the best in manual handel in nikon series.

Weakness:

There is not much problem in it. Except it is a fiber body.

Overall it is the best of its time and I find who are using manual Nikon cameras out of 10 6-7 are having FM10.

Customer Service

It is good for begineer, but not for catching some faster moving object, since I like out door, FM-10 is my second camera for stop or dark object...

Strength:

totally manual, light weight, use of Nikkor lenses

Weakness:

Too much plastic

I take long exposure (30 min. or longer)astrophotos. When the old Miranda gave up, I needed a totally manual camera to use on my telescope. The FM10 hit the mark with it's lightweight, and easy to find ascessories. Try to find a T adapter ring for a Miranda!

Strength:

excellent for allowing total control of my photographs. Lightweight. Has enabled me to produce clear, crisp photos of excellent quality. Excellent price. Even though "plastic," I feel it is made well--I've banged mine around several times with no damage.

Weakness:

None. For those commenting on the plastic construction, that is the reason you are praising the lightweight feel that you consider a strength.

An excellent buy and excellent product, especially for the money. I actually prefer the total control of a manual vs. auto camera, so this was exactly what I was looking for.

Strength:

Cheap.

Weakness:

Cheap. This camera is NOT a Nikon. It is NOT made by Nikon, it is a Cosina and the cheap quality is obvious and obscene to have "Nikon" stamped on it.

Only people that will buy this are those that are starting out and don't have a decent point of reference for high quality, durable cameras. So what, it is light, this is the price of reliability? My F2AS is heavy, and after 23 years, it still works perfectly! Some things should not be compromised. If YOU want this camera, I think you would be better to look at a second hand FM or FM2, MUCH better cameras that match their intended market.

Customer Service

Did'nt need it, I would'nt dare own one. I have heard too many reports of it being breakage prone and having a broken meter.

Similar Products Used:

I would not dare compare this toy to my favorites, my Nikon F2AS and FE2. Quality machines, built tough and reliable. Also used various F3's, F4's an FA and an F5.
