i was looking at photo trekkers and other larger bags too. i figured i would try to find a good deal on each of two bags, the mini trekker and a larger one, and decide which bag i preferred and then just put the other one back on ebay. Florida On-Site Truck Repair

Everything that it is and does is awesome.

Weakness:

Will only satisfy up to a certain level.

My second body, to replace the QTsi. It is very easy to learn and to use. It has enough functions to satisfy many hobbyists and advanced amatuer users. Eyestart is very useful. It's the only SLR of its kind to have a panoramic feature. Date back which I dont use. Wireless flash. It goes on and on. This is a wonderful camera. It does lack in a few areas though, but it is not an issue unless you start to get serious. I am so now I am looking to get my third body, the Maxxum 7.

Strength:

Great autoexposure Good autofocus light weight 14 useful custom functions Price wireless flash

Weakness:

no flash exposure compensation no DOP no diapter

Small, lightweight, with one of the best exposure systems for a reasonable price. The autofocus is very good but is also dependent on the lens used. Learn to take advantage of the capabilities and adjust for the shortcomings and you can get super results. Camera works real well with some of the older Minolta zooms like the 28-85. Wireless flash was added as a running change.

Strength:

Some are mentioned above. I would also add the shutter speed range of up to 1/4000, with standard flash synch at 1/125 (optional high speed flash synch available with accessory flashes). Metering appears to be as good as any I have used. One oddity-an earlier review mentions the deletion of wireless flash on this model, and this appears to be the case with the ones shown in Minolta literature, yet this feature IS present on my sample-maybe a running production change.

Weakness:

I don't know if it's fair to list additional features as weaknesses, but it's emblematic of the ridiculous extremes designers have gone to-the databack, the panorama mask, and the subject-based programs are a bunch of flummery (to quote Nero Wolfe). But they don't get in the way, so I just ignore them. Also, the viewfinder info is oddly arrayed vertically along the left side of the finder-something else to adjust to.

I'd been away from modern equipment because most felt like ping pong balls, but I decided I wanted an AF SLR if one could be had really cheap. Would you believe under $200 with a Sigma 28-80? See Samy's ad in Pop. How could I go wrong? The XTsi feels more substantial than the Rebels and even at a more usual price has a better value than bargain Nikons. The custom functions put it over the top. Mine is configured to leave the leader out after rewinding, for shutter release focus priority, and exposure LOCK with spot metering. I emphasize the lock part because most cameras claiming to have exposure lock (especially Nikons) don't-it's an exposure HOLD-you must maintain pressure on a (sometimes awkwardly placed) button for this function. The XTsi's custom function allows for locking with one press of the spot meter button, and unlocking with a second press. Brilliant.

Strength:

*Has fully-auto and fully manual options *Quick AF adjustment *ASA settings from 6 to 6400, great for someone like me who shoots a lot of variable-speed film *Lightweight and shape and functions are user-friendly *Spot-metering! *more features than you can shake a stick at

Weakness:

Haven''t found any yet, accessories are costly but that''s not really pertaining to camera itself :)

I bought this camera to replace my Minolta X-700, and because I really wanted a AF to do portraits. I looked at a Canon Rebel 2000, but I have always been partial to Minoltas and mine have always been good to me. I knew this was the camera for me the second I picked it up. It''s relatively easy to use, the AF is very fast, it has all the features I need. When I was replacing my X-700, I wanted a camera with aperture priority, shutter priority, and manual ASA settings, and the XTsi has them. Like another review said, the fact that id has no DOF preview is not an issue--if you know how to use an SLR properly, you should be able to tell from your F-stop what your DOF will be.

Great camera body everything about this camera is great hard to single out specific things..

Weakness:

This camera is awesome!! I bought this camera because it had everything I needed as a beginner and enough features so I can grow with it as I work towards being a professional. I''ve read all the reviews for this camera and some of them I am shocked. At the beginning, yes this camera seems like it takes poor pictures.. but since then I have been taking college courses in photography. I have found out that It was me that sucked at taking pictures not the camera. This camera has a great design and hold to it. As for the field of preview, if you need this feature you have no idea how to use a slr camera. Sorry the truth hurts! So for beginners this is a great camera to buy....just remember slr camera are unlike point and shoot camera''s you need to take some photograpy courses to understand and take great pictures. oh yea if you think the auto focus is to noisy put it on manual its really quite it swear!!!!

Strength:

~easy to use ~easy to learn ~I like the eye start and panoramic capabilities. ~great integrity ~great quality pictures ~nicest looking camera available (in my opinion) ~great value

Weakness:

~I don''t really like the auto focus system, so 90% of the time I choose manual. ~No depth of field preview! This is important for outdoor photography and the only thing which the camera is seriously lacking.

Very good camera for Biginner-Intermediate. I have shot lots of pictures, mostly outdoor/wildlife, with excellent results. I don''t have a lot of experience with 35mm cameras but this is a great one to learn on. I would definately recommend the XTsi.

Strength:

Very predictable AF with good power and low light focusing. Provides proper flash exposure for both built in and TTL flashes. Up to 1/4000 shutter speed Panorama/date, and EYE-START!

Weakness:

I often confuse the exposure compinsation with the flash selector button. Could have better magnification in viewfinder, but that''s personal preference.

The XTsi has been a great camera for me to use as my creative skills have grown. I have come to find that there is almost nothing it won''t accomidate for. Honeycomb and spot metering have consistantly led me to fine exposures, especially with all the slide film I use. The Eye-start automation allows the camera to be ready before I am, and to track action. Best in it''s class.

Strength:

light weight, great on batteries, metal lens mount. The ''Panic'' mode can even get my mom to shoot a good picture. Good for seeing if you like photography and don''t want to spend big $$$ and still want manual functionality for ''real'' learning. Great backup camera b/c of the weight

Weakness:

no depth of field preview!!! You''d better have small nimble fingers to operate in full manual and it''s a little hard to use this way. Noisy AF, shutter action, and sometimes slow and hunting AF (not cool in churches). Lens quality for Minolta could be better unless you use the APOs and spend $$$. Switching the features (A-S-M) is sometimes awkward when you''re in a rush. The included manual is a total joke. It''s torqued me off a few times b/c the light meter seems to act funny and wash out lighter objects too much when there''s alot of contrast in the picture. This is a pain when you''re shooting marble statues in daylight (my favorite subjects)

I bought it b/c it had the manual/AF features so I could learn more and I wanted the panorama. I travel alot and the light weight and compactness is a real plus. The panorama has never worked and the date and eye focus are basically useless ''add-ons''to me. The AF to manual switch tends to snap back into AF at random when trying to shoot manual. I hate the way it shoots in low light and it''s can take a WHILE before it feels like shooting the pic in this these situations. It makes you look like a real amateur when this happens. Sometimes you can''t make it take a picture at all in certain situations. I still don''t know why. It seems to have a tendancy to overexpose and washout in daylight and I''ve taken to stopping it to +0.5 to get better pictures and contrast especially for sunrise and sunsets and skyshots. Not having a depth of field preview really hampers you when you''re using certain subjects and lenses. Nevertheless, I''ve shot some really good shots, but I''ve also missed alot of them due to the overexposures and depth of field mistakes.
