Strength:

Clear photos
Easy to use
Inexpensive
Lightweight and small
Produces some really great quality photos, and it has been very dependable over the past several months.

Weakness:

Haven't found any yet!

I have found this to be a really good, easy to use, reliable camera! I photograph a wide range of subjects (from outdoor landscapes to informal pictures of family and friends) and this camera has produced great results every time. In fact, I am currently in a crime scene / evidence photography course and this camera has been invaluable for my assignments! It was a very good choice for me when I was just starting out, and it has stuck with me as I have become more experienced with photography.

Strength:

Pricewise its a perfect choice for begineers. The quality of picture is really good in any mode (nightmode, motion, closeup,..)

Weakness:

So far I have taken too many pictures but i couldn't find any weaknesses.

I found this camera perfect for beginners. It has every single feature the SLR camera should have. Its got both manual & totally automatic settings in it. Its not heavy in weight too. But when you buy it make sure you get original 35-80mm lens from Minolta. There is a 28-80mm lens available from other companies. Minolta doesn't make 28-80mm lens.

Strength:

-lightweight and ergonomic
-very inexpensive
-variety of lenses on the market
-great features

Weakness:

-my European version (Dynax 404si) lacks panorama function)
-dark viewfinder
-a bit noisy

Just got the pictures from my first role of film (b&w), so these are my first impresions. I purchased the STsi (or Dynax 404si as it's called in Europe) as my first SLR camera. I got to use a Cannon Rebel 2000 in school, and I compared these two to select my new cam. I also looked at Pentax MZ 30. Minolta was sold with a 28-105 mm zoom lenses, while the other two had 35-80 mm lenses. It was also a bit cheaper than the Pentax and almost 20% cheaper than the Cannon. I am very found of the STsi and like its features. The AF is a bit slow, but I like to focus manually. The dark viewfinder is greatest dissadvantage for me, I was able to compare my camera with the HTsi and the difference in the viewfinder is obvious.
All in all: probably a bit boring for an expert, the STsi/Dynax 404si is a great camera for a beginner.
