    Strength:

Very fast auto focus, the motor sounds solid, exposure mode has spot metering which is difficult to find in other camera in this price, even Nikon F65 and Canon EOS 300. The scale for spot metering is also very informative, it tells you the relative brightness compare to your target spot.

    Weakness:

Need to be a little bit careful when opening and closing the back-cover, there is potential of cover clamp at shoulder strap and spoil the cover.

This camera is great value for money yet it has so much to offer. Although the price is at entry level SLR, I think it is suitable not only for beginners. I took some actions shots using the countinuous AF and 75-300mm lens and it came out great. I can't feel the shutter delay time at all. I also bring this camera to Mt.Fuji Japan at 0 degree C and this camera still performing well like other time... The price is inclusive of 28-80mm and 75-300mm lens.

    Falsh Photography

Did alot of research and owned a Maxxum 7000 and decided on this unit. It works great except for flash photography. I have a Minolta 3600 flash and I constantly get underexposed pictures. Even compensated ot the max they are dark. I initially purchased a PZ1 flash unit and everything was overexposed so I returned it and purchased the Minolta Flash now everythings dark. I would not recommend this camera.

    Strength:

Eye start, light weight, easy to read viewfiner. accurate!

    Weakness:

It's supose to come with a viewfinder cap for tripod work, but it does not. Can be a little finicky with the autofocus/zoom lense combo, using focus lock can help.

So far I have only good things to say about this camera. Light weight, easy to load, progams are easy to use, manually settings as well. Results have always been good. Eye start is a bonus. Great camera to learn photo basics on.

    Strength:

Fast AF (although i dont use it) Eye Start (although i don't use it Metal Lens Mount

    Weakness:

feels a little too cheap and plastic.

I've had this camera just under a month and have been 100% satisfied. My pictures came out so much better than they had been with my previous camera. The compact design makes it easy to carry just about anywhere. Works ideally with 400 speed film. The ease of use is great for a beginner (I list myself as a beginner however i know a lot about cameras, focusing, aperture, shutter speed etc...). I reccomend this above any other camera in its class. FYI i got a tamron 24-70 lens with the camera hence the high price tag.

    Strength:

Fastness, the eye control is fantastic.

    Weakness:

I haven't found any so far. Maybe that I want a macro lens and a tele lens and there are no ones for Dynax (D) so far.

This camera is wonderful and takes great pictures. I went on a conference in Beijing including a tour around the country and the pictures are really good, although I am not able to use all the possibilities so far. The camera is fast, and my pictures of the roofs at the Temple of Heaven and The Forbidden city are just so beautiful. One picture with goldfish in a lake and a tree is the best I have ever taken! I love this camera!

1)Best price and best features in its class 2)Ease of use for beginner 3)Well fit for advanced photographer 4)Very fast autofocus

    Weakness:

    1)Batteries don't last long with eye-start on.

This camera is superb. Easy to use for beginner and wide range of features to fit advanced photographer. It offers more features than other competitors for the same price, great value for money. I'm very please with the autofocus and the 28-80(D) lens come with the camera package. This lens is fast and the image quality is excellent.

    Strength:

Fast Autofocus, 1/4000 sec shutter speed, easy to use, picture quality, etc.

    Weakness:

Wish they made it in all black!

I love this camera! I did a LOT of research before buying a camera and found the Maxxum 5 to be the most bang for tue buck! It's a cinch to use, and learn how to use. It seems a bit small compared to other SLR's, but no big deal. The quality of pictures is great! I love the fast shutter speed, fast auto focus, and user friendly design. I was going to buy the Maxxum 7, but it didn't really have much that the Maxxum 5 didn't have and it was half the price! I've run about 20 rolls through it and the battery still looks like it's at full power. I'd recommend this camera for any beginner. It's easy to use with room to grow!

size is almost too small, you can't reload film to a set frame like on the maxxum 7 or 9

Great camera for the price. 95% of the features of the Maxxum 7 at less than half the cost and half the size.
