Strength:

This camera offered me the most feratures for the most money of all the cameras that I researched. I also believe that Minolta makes a fine product, this being my second Minolta camera.

Weakness:

None, the camera seems solid and reliable.

This is an excellent camera for someone looking to step into the world of SLR photography. I had a manual camera before and this camera makes it so much easier and quicker to take excellent photos. All and all a great camera. The AF system and metering are first rate. Anyone can take great photos with this camera.

Strength:

This camera is just wonderful. Fully automatic for beginners, and easy to use controls and customizable settings
for advanced users

Weakness:

Only control drawback is that you have to press a button and use the control wheel to set aperture in manual mode. Also the plastic lens mount. Just stick to lenses w/plastic mounts and you will have little problem.

Excellent value. A winner from Minolta

Strength:

Very light, good looking, cheap for its range, auto eye start.

Weakness:

Long time to focus when using 300 or higher lens.

I have been using it for 6 months. Took at least 20 negative films. It`s quite user friendly. Colours are fine. Easy to operate. Eye start mode makes it easy to take a series of photos quickly. Fine for its price. I got the body for $430. Okay for a beginner like me.

Strength:

Very light; program functions; spot metering

Weakness:

Difficult to set up spot metering without holding a button with one finger and pressing the shutter release with another. This is awkward. Also, its not clear how to control the shutter speed when in manual mode.

I have had this camera for a few months and I'm very pleased with it. For the most part, the program buttons are laid out well. It came with a 28-80 Minolta lens. The camera is easy to program and comes with a bunch of preset programs that control depth of field and aperture for portrait, landscape, sports and night photography. For the price it should come with a date back.
