Strength:

Outstanding picture quality, not too complicated, doesn't have so many options and modes that it is overwhelming.

Weakness:

The pop-up flash is fine for snapshots and casual photos, but is a bit harsh for portraits or art photography.

I love this camera (Rebel XS). I have had it for 5 1/2 years, and it has never failed me. The picture quality is outstanding for a 35mm.
All in all, a great camera, esp for a beginner.

Customer Service

Only one minor problem in five years, a plastic ring on the lens housing of the standard Canon 25-80mm lens cracked, but was fixed with some tape and has been fine ever since.

Strength:

Auto Focus

Weakness:

no built in flas (X model) but i had an external so its all good

I love the auto focus. i had to get an af because of my eyes. they really started to fail me. I noticed this too late at a compitition. Everyone says this is such a cheapie but goodie and that they dont worry about it getting stolen or broken. I WORRY! that 200.00 bucks was not easy for me to get a hold of. but its payed for itself in awards from my photos. Even though, i'll probably upgrade to an Elan when i have the money.

Strength:

Light weight & low cost. Bought it as a second body for school uses. No need to worry if stolen, lost or broken.

Weakness:

no technical problems

Good purchase if you need a cheap camera with variety of options. I use it for school. I'm not afraid if stolen, lost, or broken.

Strength:

This camera has all features for engaged beginners. It´s also possible to improve your skills and go further in photography with this camera. Good price.

Weakness:

Quite noisy (auto-focus and mirror).

Excellent camera for beginners and people who prefer an SLR to an point and shoot camera without going into the depth of photography. Now, after one year of experience in photography I miss a depth-of-field preview and mirror lockup.

Customer Service

Strength:

The camera body is cheap, easy to use, and has pretty much everything you need.

Weakness:

Hand grip is somewhat to small and no finger groves, fingers can easily block af/assist light and meter. Auto focus assist light should be infrared or non-visible light. Hard to read film type through window.

Will get clean, well exposed picture no matter your experience.

Customer Service

I have had nothing but positive experience with my Canon cameras and their sevrice deptpartment and service dealers.

Strength:

Cheap, light, lots of features.

Weakness:

I would like it to have a metal lens mount and be a bit less noisy.

Great beginner camera. You can probably pick one up used for around $100. Great value.

Strength:

Takes excellent pictures, easy to use, you can let it make all the decisions or you can, or anything in between. I found it to be quite durable.

Weakness:

none

This camera can grow with you as your skills develop: you can exercise more control (or less, for novices), you can change lenses. It takes great pictures. I lost mine (in a checked suitcase which never arrived) and replaced it with a Rebel 2000. The 2000 has more features, but it's not clear to me that it takes better pictures.

Strength:

Price, many features, ease of use, can be completely manual or completely automatic, auto focus works very well, metering is accurate, can be used by total novice or someone wanting more creative control.

Weakness:

No built in flash, some advanced features not available.

I bought this camera to be used by myself and by the yearbook staff at my son's elementary school. It has performed extremely well in the few weeks since I purchased it, and
I would love to be able to purchase another for our school. A great little camera!

Customer Service

I have never had to use customer service for any of my Canon products.
