Strength:
Great manual modes, auto-focus when needed. ease to switch lens.
Weakness:
Not found of the location of the rear door switch, and the special batteries. I have to say I have moved from a Canon AV-1 to this, and I have to say it is a good camera. The stock lens that it comes with is ok, and I like the various manual modes. Its taken clear pictures, and works well with my older flash equipment. Similar Products Used: Canon AV-1 |

Strength:
Light weight, reliability, manual options no built-in flash
Weakness:
No depth of field preview; autofocus can get confused, especially in low light; manual controls can still have a mind of their own at times I have been happily using the Rebel X for almost 10 years. It is light enough to carry everywhere and does nearly everything I ask of it. I love the fact that it does not have the built-in flash, because I don't have to worry about keeping it in manual mode in low light. The Canon Speedlite has done a great job when needed. Pictures have been great, even with the standard 35-80 zoom. And now that I'm stepping up to some faster and finer prime lenses, the quality is astounding. Customer Service Never used it Similar Products Used: Canon FTb |

PRICE!!! Can''t be beat! Adept metering. Light weight. Sharp lens. Gives good feedback.
Weakness:
Built-in flash would be nice, but hey, you get what you pay for. Also, wish flash sync was faster (1/90) but I''ve found this is pretty standard number for entry-level cameras. I find this a VERY satisying introduction to the world of SLR photography. It came at a good price, packing good performance. The camera meters well and allows you to make adjustments when it''s in Program mode. I bought a Speedlite 200E ($60) to use with this and have not missed having a built-in flash at all. The lens that comes with this camera is SHARP (the techs at the photo lab I use noticed the difference between the Rebel and my earlier film after my first roll of film.) This is a very good camera! Customer Service Haven''t had reason to use it. Similar Products Used: Used pro-quality Nikons in college, currently own Olympus Styus Epic 35mm p/s and Olympus D340R digital. |

I've had this camera (XS) for 5 years and it's been great. Great durability, some great pictures. It's light and easy to carry around. I'd recommend getting the battery pack or the tripod grip so you can use the hand strap instead of the neck strap.
Weakness:
slow sync with the flash. Eyepiece broke and lost it after a year. Eats batteries pretty fast. Great Camera.. Lots of pictures with a lot of great results. Just stepped up to an A2E. Hopefully I'll have the same good results to post here. Customer Service Got some literature. Excellent response. Strength:
A great beginner camera. I bought it because it has auto and manual features. I'm moving past the auto features, but I'm thankful for them still because I can hand it to anyone and get great pictures. I've never been dissatisfied with this camera.
Weakness:
Some might consider no flash a drawback, but I don't think the little pop-up flashes work well enough to be worthwhile. This is a great starter camera that will take you through intermediate photography or keep you happy as a casual photographer for many years. Customer Service Haven't had problems--a dependable Canon! Similar Products Used: Not extensively enough to comment. |

Strength:
Lightweight. Very well priced. Offers some useful functions for a camera of this level.
Weakness:
No DOF preview. Good for the begginner - but you'll soon grow out of it if you pursue photography as a hobby. It allows you to learn the basics. Customer Service No idea. Similar Products Used: Canon EOS 3 |

Strength:
Inexpensive, light weight, Simplicity
Weakness:
none yet With very little experience any beginner can shoot extrordinary pictures with this camera package. I've only used point and shoot cameras extensively and the quality of the pictures do not even compare, I guess I didn't really know what to expect. I would recomend this camera to any beginner like myself or anyone wanting and inexpensive and easy to use camera. Customer Service not used yet Similar Products Used: several point and shoot, and some experience with a Pentax k1000 |

Rebel X:
Weakness:
Lack of DOF preview, no exposure data storage/printing, only about 1 frame per second; but, hey! didn't I say it was CHEAP??? Excellent for begginers and intermediate photographers. Next choice after point-and-shoot cameras. Good for advanced experimenting (multiple exposure, full manual etc.). Outstanding quality/price ratio. But, it's easier to fall in love with EOS-3 or EOS-1N ;) Customer Service Never used. Similar Products Used: Elan & Yashica |
