Strength:

Good solid feel. Just about the right weight, not too heavy or light. very versitile with all its functions and the wide shutter speed range.

Weakness:

Lack of a verticle grip with built in battery pack (minor complaint). The way it is set up, if you desire more battery capacity you must wear the battery on you belt, and connect it to the camer via a cable.

So far, it is a great camera. I have not broken the command dial yet. It handles well, and has a host of features which will take me years to out-grow. A bit of advice: do get the extended warenty b/c if the command dial breaks, it will cost over a hundred dollars (that's what I am told) to get it fixed.

Customer Service

not needed yet, but I bought the extended service plan b/c of all the people who seem to have a faulty command dial.

Strength:

Ease of use
Quietness
Lots of features
Best value on the market

Weakness:

Can't use AA batteries
Max flash sync is only 1/200
"Zero method" exposure display

A terrific full-featured SLR. Next to the original Elan, this is the quietest camera I've owned. Its flash capabilities are a little disappointing since it doesn't have E-TTL like the newer EOS bodies. But this is OK since I don't shoot a lot of flash. There's no need to buy anything more expensive. Save your $$ to buy good lenses instead.

Strength:

Has a lot of bells and whistles. Custom functions allow tailoring camera for efficient use.

Weakness:

Horrible predictive autofocus!!! Has a tendancy to under expose with 430 EZ flash. Not as rugged as EOS 630. Awkward handling without the vertical grip attached.

Good camera, a lot of nice features. I'd rather have my old 630 any day.

Strength:

Excellent camera. Good feel. Great layout of functions. You wont need to spend hundreds on professional 'options' like you will with Nikon n90s. Has everything I need for photojournalistic photography and nature, wildlife and fine art stuff.

Weakness:

Why on earth put two popular Custom functions on the same button? I can't use depth of field preview while I have the AF set on the AE button. It would have been nice if Canon used a different version of the patented technology on the EOS 5 which indicates exactly how much exposure you are over or under, rather than just a plus or minus sign. ;-(

This is a great camera. I was hard set on Nikon until a fellow press photographer convinced me to give it a try. Good decision. With the prices so low on A2's right now, you could expect to pay close to twice as much for the n90s and its 'optional' multi-fuction back. Nikon makes amazing stuff, but the Canon A2 is a better deal for the press photographer on a budget.

Strength:

Cheap; Easy to use; Vertical grip for extra positions and bigger hands; 5 FPS; Canon lenses; Multi Exposure; AEB; DOF preview.

Weakness:

Useless flash; Weak AF assist light; No data stamp option; No backlit data screen.

Very good camera for those beginning in auto-everything SLRs or those pros/amateurs that are budget strapped. It's cheap, built nicely, has a slew of useful features, and accepts Canon's EF lenses. The 5 fps is also best in it's class of camera and has been for several years.
Weird things I've noticed is that it tends to hunt in low light situations even with AF assist enabled. This is probably due to the lens used and the fact that it's LOW-LIGHT. Also, the aperture will stick after using DOF preview; but this rarely happens and has never hindered a shot.
A nifty feature would be a backlit data display for night shooting. And maybe get rid of the flash and add a data back or something. Of course, price points and target consumers kinda dictate what gets added and removed and overall, this camera is a bargain compared to similarly featured competitors.
I recommend this camera to anyone on a budget that wants the speed and features of pro SLR but can't afford one.

Strength:

1. spot meter
2. loads of features
3. exposure compensation dial on the back
4. built-in zoom (!) flash powerful enough for snap shots and fill flash
5. fast focusing speed
6. very quiet

Weakness:

1. command dial flimsy, will break any time
2. no separate DOF button

Other than the command dial problem (mine hasn't broken yet, but it is not as smooth and is quite loose now), this is a great camera for its price. You just can't find a better camera for this price, or a cheaper camera with this many features. It is very well built, and feels comfort in the hands. The exposure compensation dial on the back is fantastic and convenient. I've taken it in rain and snow, it has never let me down. Now I only wish the command dial won't break.

Strength:

Straight forward functions, autofocus is a kick to use, tons of differant functions to choose from. Takes great pictures.

Weakness:

Batteries drain too quickly.

I read the customer reviews before I bought my camera. The main complaint that bothered me most was that the batteries drain too quickly. I didn't think that would be a problem for me, since I'm usually not in extreemly cold weather. Turns out my camera has a malfunction with it an drains batteries VERY quickly. Sometimes with in a day, camera doesn't turn on anymore. Somehow talked B&H into an exchange. I haven't had the camera more than a month. I'm really bumbed about my malfunctioning camera because I have really enjoyed getting to know it. It is a wonderful camera.

Customer Service

Friendly, honest and straight forward. I didn't mind having to be on the phone with them

Strength:

The functionality of a pro's SLR at a beginner's price.

Weakness:

1 year and none yet. I am being very careful with the control knob.

Great camera for an intermediate. I was using a Rebel (my first SLR) and needed a step-up in function and performance. At $400, this camera is a must for as amateur's primary or a pro's back-up.

Customer Service

Strength:

* The camera feels solid when you first pick it up.
* Ergonomics of the camera is great as it is.
* Custom Functions.
* 5fps with no booster.
* Very quiet fast rewind.
* Good auto focus.
* The mirror prefire.
* Fast shutter speed 1/8000
* DOF preview
* 5 points AF 0 0 0 0 0

Weakness:

* Flimsy top-dial
* Lack of an alternative power supply unless one buys the extremely bulky and inconvenient belt-clipped BP-5
* The flash system which is inadequate

I love my EOS A2. The EOS A2 was released in 1992 (beyond its time...). It is a semi-professional camera for people who could not or would not buy an EOS 1. Despite the relatively old project (early '90s) the EOS A2 is very actual. I have many of the most important tools in professional photo in a practice and ergonomic camera. It's a excellent camera with a very good price.

Customer Service

I never used here in Brazil.
