Strength:
Good pictures when it works.
Weakness:
Did not get to use it that much and too costly to fix. I would not buy this camera nor any other product made by Samsung. This product was not made to last. Had the camera 1 year then lens would not retract. Charged $99 plus shipping to have it fixed. 4 months later same problem. Samsung wanted $99 to fix it again. No thank you. Customer Service Two phone calls of 25 minutes each to find out the bad news. Similar Products Used: no more! |

Camera is OK, customer service is nightmarish Customer Service The camera itself is OK, no complaints. However at some point it was damaged and sent to Samsung for repair. That turned out to be a naightmarish experience. I don't recommend buying a Sumsung camera because if you ever need it serviced, you will have to deal with the most incompetent bureaucrocy that will loose your camera and will keep you on phone for hours inventing various excuses of why the camera is lost. For closest approximation of the Samsung customer service read Frantz Kafka's "Trail". The book will cost you less than the camera here on Amazon, but the impressions will be the same. |

Strength:
Small, light, powers up quickly, better than average lag time.
Weakness:
Unpredictable battery life, when its time, it simply shuts down, very annoying. I carry 2 spares, and a separate battery charger, but the way the camera shuts down on extremely short notice drives me nuts.
Samsung did a great marketing splash in American Photo magazine, so much so that I actually bought one of these NOT based on any research or due diligence. However, I am not disappointed. It is small, light, unobtrusive, and it looks really COOL. It has many great features, some take getting used to (like the soft touch horizontal and vertical row buttons), and most are pretty standard features that you expect from a decent P/S camera. It is relatively quick on the draw, very dead on with its exposure, even in dim lighting, which is where many point and shoots tend to fail in exposure metering. Movie mode is limited to the size of your SD card and how much battery life is left, which is nicer than most cameras which tend to limit you to 3 minutes per session. Video quality is actually quite good, even though only 640 x 480 resolution. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the camera, and it stays in my briefcase or in my breast pocket 99 percent of the time.

Strength:
many many features
Weakness:
Littly annoying bugs Features on this NV10 camera are like those of an SLR. This camera allows me to adjust the ISO, Aperature and exposure settings as well as many other features. I can take B/W pics and more. The camera seem to shut off by itself on ocassion. not sure why. plan to call samsung to find out. The video quality is very good alowing me to shoot XVID mpeg 4 movies that are better than broadcasrt quality at 640 by 480. I think the camera is a bit buggi and a software upgrade from Samsung these issues would be resolved. The camera is very usable even with the bugs. An example of a bug would be that the camera would not take pics at 10 mega pixels in negative mode( that is shooting the pic as a negative) however this worked with 7 MPIX. the B/w and SPIA settings worked fine at 10 MPIX. it dint win the European Compact Camera 2006-2007 by The European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA). Along with the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) award for nothing. Customer Service will call soon Similar Products Used: Optio a10 |
