Fragile Never has my opinion of a lens changed so dramatically or so quickly as in the case of this 70-300mm VR from Nikon. In the case of cameras, like Nikon D80 the situation is different. My first copy, owned about a year ago, was utterly mediocre in nearly every way. It was fuzzy at 300mm, no better than reasonably sharp under 200mm, gave nice colors and decent focus performance but was no fun to use thanks to its sticky zoom ring and “hidden” focus ring.
