Strength:

low noise at high ISO (car shows, concerts, etc).
5 fps shooting
Magnisium Alloy body
EOS L IS lens are the best.
CMOS and Digic 2 processor

Weakness:

not as well built as my Nikon d200

Okay, lets have a professional do the reviewing on this fabulous camera.

First off, I'm a proud owner of both the Nikon D200, Canon 30D, and EOS 1D mark II.

In short, the 30D is incredible for low-light (flashless) shots. The exposures come out realitivly clean and way less noisy than my D200. This is where it excels. Lots of my work is done in low-lighting situations--and yes, many of the best photos ever taken do come from low light situations.

I see almost no resolution differences between either the D200 or my 30D--though the extra 1.8 megapixel has slight minute edge for cropping--either than that...nothing different.

Strength:

* LCD 2.5"
* Picture Style
* Brighter results than 20D
* Spot metering
* 5 fps
* Great value for money (compare to Nikon D200)
* Better AWB than 20D
* One of the best D-SLR on market in term of Low Noise Performance

Weakness:

* sensor tends to be dirty compare to 20D
* banding issue on some lenses (i.e : 50 mm f/1.4 USM)

Big improvement from EOS 20D with "silent" announcement.
quite surprise when compared with EOS 20D, the better AWB for some difficult lighting situation (mixed source light) where 30D could perfectly capture the exact color !

Strength:

Very energy efficient - I have a 4gb extreme III card and I've used it completely up with over 1200 jpegs and still had plenty of battery life left. It goes into hibernation quickly saving energy on your battery.

Wakes up very fast - If its in hibernation, it wil take a picture right away when you need it to.

Very easy to use - Although you have full control over aperture, shutter speed, and iso, you can set it to automatic and use it as a point and shoot camera.

Weakness:

The integrated flash is not very useful at all. It will make your pictures look like they were taken with a pocket camera...but then again, I didn't buy this thing for the flash. and with the 50 f/1.4 I hardly ever need flash.

Other than that, I can't imagine a way to make this camera better, it is by far, the best camera I've ever owned.

Well, honestly I'm just a beginner, but I have taken some awesome pictures with this camera. I have two lenses so far, a 50mm f/1.4 and a 70-200 f/4L and both work awesome with this camera. Like I said, I'm very new to photography, but with this camera and lenses I have taken pictures that belong on postcards. I can only imagine how they will turn out once I learn more about lighting, aperture, shutter speed, and all those thingys.

Strength:

Speed! It turns on quickly, focuses quickly (and accurately), takes pictures quickly, and writes them to the card quickly. The only thing it doesn't allow me to do quickly is post-processing, and I have 1Gb of RAM. When it is on high-speed burst mode, it is difficult to take just one picture.

It has the weight and durability to convey confidence, but it is not so heavy that you can't carry it around or so bulky that it doesn't look stylish. The new large screen is a great asset. The viewfinder is crisp and accurate. The extra ISO control doesn't seem like it would be a big deal, but I use it all the time and you will too upon purchasing the camera.

The image size is more than enough, as indicated by the stabalizing of sensor size for professional photojournalist cameras. I can trust the camera to always be ready for anything...it is only my own skill that leaves me wondering if my images will be worth looking at. The manual controls are easy to reach and adjust. It can do everything I want to with minimal screen time, including auto-bracketing and the works.

Weakness:

An IS0 of 50 would have been nice. I was expecting the Digic III processor to be on this upon release, but it wasn't.

The built-in flash tends to hurt more than help, but you probably can't expect much from any built-in flash (I learned to stop using the internal flash on any camera years ago).

It comes with a strap with red accents that looks kinda funny. (Yeah, I am out of negative stuff to say.)

I have taken well over 3,000 pictures with it in the scanty few weeks I have owned it, giving full glory to my unusual style of photography (mainly macro). It is beautiful and I love sharing the photographic experience with it. I still have yet to come up with a name, though... Gunther? Audrey? Autumn? Thor? (The nice thing about it is that if a really cool name doesn't fit the camera, I can always apply it to a lens.)

As a starter, I want to say that I know it is not all that much of an upgrade from the 20D. A news editor for a photography magazine chose his words well when he described it as "refreshed". Even so, there is no need to spam it because it is an improvement on an already excellent camera and it is also more affordable. I am sure it will be just as great a seller when it has had its chance.

I work at a camera store, so I was able to purchase this camera through Canon's Authorized Dealer Associate Purchase Program. For years, Nikon has been giving amazing discounts and benefits to camera store employeees, but Canon is finally warming up to the game. I sent for it the first day our stores recieved the purchase program and it arrived on my doorstep a week later, gleaming from head-to-toe, er, built-in-flash-to-screen.

I am completely happy with this camera. I don't need one smaller or lighter; likewise, I don't need anything bulkier or heavier. The sensor size is just right for my needs. The speed is amazing. The internal circuitry does everything that a camera's should without problem. It is easy to hold, easy to shoot, and looks just plain rackish.

I explore with the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro. It is a little odd for a kit lens, being of the fixed focal-length variety and considering how long it is, but I like it and it fits my needs well. I have not yet been able to try out an L-series lens with it, but as soon as I am able to afford one (the third lens from now), I will change that.

I only filled the buffer once when working on a project for photographing popcorn while being popped: I had been holding down the shutter for the better part of a minute using the full five frames a second and it eventually began to stutter.

I find the noise iffy at ISO 400 and unnacceptable at ISO 800, but I am pickier than the average bear and tend to expose my photos in the worst way possible for creating noise. Noise reduction has a long way to go, but it has also come a long way already.

If you can afford this camera and it appeals to you in any way, I would recommend it. I can understand why hobbiest might want to spring for one and why a professional wouldn't mind stepping down to one. Infact, my best one-sentence description of the camera is "a professional's backup camera." It is always prepared to do something one step higher than I know how, and I am a geek who likes to learn about all the crazy stuff electronics can do. Buy it and you won't look back.

Customer Service

I haven't had any issues yet. Canon purposely didn't send me a warranty card; instead, my receipt is used for all warranty purposes. They took a several procautions to make sure that I am keeping the camera for myself and not selling it off at a profit. When you take their concerns into consideration, the small inconviences are not a problem.

I have extensively used my mom's 350D. It is very easy to use while delivering near-professional results. The manual features are usable, albeit a little cumbersome to get to quickly. I am especially impressed with its buffer size when with a high speed memory card. Also, its size and wait are incredible; you may not notice them when upgrading from a point-and-shoot, but when you are used to a standard DSLR, it is astounding.
