I too purchased this camera only to have it leak water into the SD card compartment. Common ending that Casio gives. If it water gets into this camera its not Casio's fault, it is your fault and you get to buy another camera. Anyone shopping for a rugged, waterproof camera. Save yourself the grief that many of us have already experienced. Search the Web for reviews on this camera and you will see I'm telling the truth about this camera.

For me I'm back out shopping for another camera. I'm looking at the Olympus Stylus 8010, Pentax W90 or the Canon D10 (Ugly Camera).

Good luck...start running now away from this camera!!!

NOT waterproof as stated

I got this camera in May 2010, and really loved it. Had fun little shooting features, and was a great size. I had been looking foward to bringing it on vacation instead of my SLR and was very excited to be able to bring it in the water with me. I thought the photos it took looked very crisp and I was very happy with the photo quality.

So it came with me to Mexico and and failed to make it home in working order...
Before bringing it into the ocean I checked both the battery and SD card slot to make sure they were closed and clean, (directions clearly state to check for dust and sand) and everything looked great.
The ocean was calm and a few pictures were snapped. Then I let the camera float off my wrist not going deeper than a foot for about 2mins, went to snap another photo and the camera wouldn't turn on. A green light turned on but the screen was black. In despair I left the ocean dried it off and opened the slots to find water had gotten into the sd card slot and had even alrerady corroded the card.

Casio states that this malfunction is not covered under their warranty and must have been user error. I don't know what I would have done differently to have prevented what had happened and am very unhappy with their assistance. The product shouldn't be promoted to be waterproof, shockproof and freezeproof if they aren't even willing to cover the failures. So it would appear I'm out $300, a camera and worse a vacation full of amazing photo opportunites!
I ended up going online to read many other reviews of people stating the same problem as mine as well.

Very dissappointed!!
