    Strength:

Many exposure modes AP, SP, Manual, Auto MPEG movie mode Adjustable sensitivity (ISO Equivalents) Zeiss optics with fairly fast f/ratio Good zoom range Exposures up to 8 seconds for night photography

    Weakness:

Don't rush it - takes about 2 seconds to ready itself. Doesn't sound like much, but it can be an eternity Auto-focus system has trouble in low light/contrast Accessories are on the expensive side requires a special adapter ring ($25 US)to use filters Won't fit in case with adapter ring installed Not Memory Stick Pro compatible

After I found the limits of my older floppy disk based Sony camera, I decided on this camera as the replacement. It has almost all of the features I want on a digital and image quality is great when things go right. I find that the auto-focus system works very well except in low-light or low contrast conditions, and can not be rushed. For that matter, the whole camera can not be rushed since it takes about 2 seconds for the lens to extend and everything to get ready for action. Aside from these two complaints, everything else about the camera is top notch, from the metal construction to the placement of most of the controls. To use filters and the like, a special adapter ring must be fitted to the camera which costs an additional $25+. Basically, so long as you take a little time in situations where the light or contrast is low, it's a great little camera.

    Customer Service

Sony's website is pretty good about putting up solutions to common issues, updates and the like. I have not needed support beyond that.

    Strength:

    - Long life battery - Excellent quality -except for the red- - Carls Zeiss optics

    Weakness:

The red color reproduction looks really awful. The "Manual Focus" is not really manual, bacause the steps are already pre-set. I cannot find the lenses accesories.

Basically I bought this camera because of the Carl Zeiss optics which are superb. I found this camera very easy to use, and gaves me the sensation of being using a manual camera.

    Strength:

Can produce very good quality images. I found it''s best to use the camera in shutter or aperture priority and avoid full auto. Excellent macro capability and quality. Long battery life.

    Weakness:

No hot shoe for standard electronic flash use. Can''t use filters to protect the Zeiss lens unless a special adaptor is purchased. 90 day parts/labor warranty from Sony is substandard. Some feel reds are oversaturated. There are some complaints of autofocus problems that I found to be rare when camera is used in shutter or aperture priority. Minimum aperture of only f8 (common to most other consumer digicams).

I believe this is still the best priced 4 megapixel camera available. Overall, a very good choice. Light weight, easy to use once gotten used to, capable of producing excellent, sharp images.

    Customer Service

No experience. But, if something breaks after 90 days, the standard warranty will fall short.

    Strength:

Fast sharp lens, long life batteries, good macro capability (even handholded and with autofocus taken snaps are usable!), auxiliary light for autofocus, robust design but it is small enough to be carried in the pocket, almost totally quiet operation (if needed). It can also record the sound with picture and rough video only limited by available memory.

    Weakness:

Vulnerable lens when protruded, autofocus needs to be checked in macro mode and in low light around infinity focus, big shutter lag compared to SLR or compact film cameras. The colors are slightly more saturated, a little of noise is visible in clear blue sky.

I have bought this camera to be my personal image notebook and for such purpose it works very well. I can make usable photos up to 8x10" large, sometimes the video is also effective.
