Strength:

1. Size and auto-lens cover
2. Convenient thumb-wheel to select settings
3. Auto Flash and convenient grip
4. Ease of resolution selection

Weakness:

The zoom is not smooth. The Panasonic Lumix has has a zoom that should be in all Nikon product.

I bought the P2 for its size and capabilities. I also have a Nikon 5700 which is better for my other pictures.

The P2 fits in my pocket, has good lens response and built-in lens protection. It was easy to carry, focus and shoot in a retail environment. (I used it to create a composite of the 60+ associates at CompUSA in Roseville)

Making short or long MOV files was a bonus. This P2 model let me shoot until the card (SD) was full or until I stopped..

Customer Service

None needed despite the fact that I carry it in my pants pocket.

Casual

Strength:

Perhaps what I consider as strengths are just common to all digital cameras. The ability to take an almost unlimited amount of pictures is perfect for my casual snapshot style of photography.
This camera is easy to use right out of the box. The default autofocus mode has worked fine in just about every situation
The camera also has a sound video mode with resolution up to 640x480.
The picture quality is comparable to my Pentax auto focus film camera.
I've found that the 2 meg resolution does fine and dandy for snap shot size prints and is passible for 8x10s.
At the highest resolution 8x10 prints show no pixilation.
The first big test was the Portland Oregon Rose test garden and the Cool Pix P2 passed with flying colors.

Weakness:

I haven't used the wireless feature that comes with the camera and see little need for it.
Battery life is short, less than 5 hours of what I considered to be average use.
The selector knob used to change film mode tends to slip from position when placed in the camera bag or even with light accidental pressure from my fingers.
While I'm getting used to using the monitor and admit it has some advatages, I would still like the option of a traditional view finder.

This is my first digital camera and with few exceptions I couldn't be happier.
I think I lucked out as I see the average price for this camera is back in the 200+ range.
I had considered the cool pix L4 wich was at the same price as the P2 when I purchased it. I also looked at cameras from Sony, Pentax, Olympia, Kodak and Fujica.
What sold me finaly was the lense, audio capability, and the recharger included with the camera.

Because this camera was so deeply discounted it gets 5 stars for value.

Customer Service

I haven't needed customer service to date.
I do find the Nikon web site to be fairly helpful.
