Casual
Strength:
compact, easy instructions, good battery life, good software
Weakness:
loooooooooonnngggggggg shutter lag on automatic, best for sunlit operation More features than Carter has pills, but they only work in brighter light situations Customer Service excellent; Nikon upgraded me to this camera from an earlier one that was, frankly, overpriced junk. I forget the model...entryy level early digital camera. Similar Products Used: none |

Strength:
size, versatility, software included like Adobe Elements, feel, and a 2 year warranty.
Weakness:
16M card, slow shutter speed, samll LCD window, non-intuitive menu. Nikon coughed up the 4300 to replace the 3200? that had no viewfinder and took crappy shots. With that I was pleased. Overall, it's a great camera that fits my needs of small size, manual operation from time to time, and flexibility of operational controls. Customer Service good, but d@mn slow (Canada) Similar Products Used: earlier Nikon 3200? |

No Auto Exposure lamp...all cameras need one. Thi is by far, IMHO, the best 4 megapixel camera on the market. Although it lacks 1 key feature I would like to have, it makes up for it with it's plethora of valuable amenities. For one, it's a Nikon, which means superb optics. Secondly, it isn't over bloated with ridiculous features. The menu system is intuitive and the software easy-to-use. I'm more of a Photoshop guy if I need to retouch or add special effects. The SCENE mode is real nice for those who just want to take nice pictures and don't care about the technical stuff (my wife). The AUTOMATIC mode is also nice for that, but gives you some room to manuever. The MANUAL mode is great for people like me who consider themselves "Advanced Amateurs" and enjoy mixing up the settings to get the results we want. And I actually make the right decision half the time. The form factor is one of the best features, especially the grip. This is truely a one-handed camera if you choose. I ompared this to a few Sony's (too expsensive to own once you add all the little things you need, like a battery, memory etc), Canon (which I came real close to buying, and a Minolta. The fact that you can add lenses and a Speedlight to this camera makes it even more worthy of consideration. Customer Service Have never needed it.
