Strength:
1) Small size 2) Speed of Operation 3) Swivel Body (real cute, real nice) 4) Full range of Video capture, beyond other sub-compacts 5) Display works in bright sunlight 6) Rather Intuitive Operation 7) Decent white balance settings and a few other geeky options
Weakness:
1) Kyocera Color Image quality lower than Canon, Nikon and others 2) Battery life (typical of subcompact) [get larger point and shoot if you want long battery life] 3) Weak flash (typical of subcompact, again) 4) No "Basic or High Compression" mode, Normal compression results in somewhat large files 5) Missing a tripod mount One of the Best in the Sub Compact Category. A subcompact seems have slightly lower battery life, weaker flash a bit less picture quality in exchange for its size... but Oh.... Does Size Matter. And the SL400R is one of the Sexist designs in this category... it is fast to start up, fast to take a picture, and it has a (no flash) super fast 3 frame per second continuous repeat frame mode that will keep clicking and clicking. And if you are willing to buy enough SD Memory, it is the ONLY Sub compact digicam I've found with enough video capability to allow some me to leave my video camera camcorder at home. Why? Unlimited video length (well memory limited). And full 640x480 at 30fps if I want. (or 15fps, or 320x240, or 160x120 with or without sound). The flippy flexxy sexxy case (reminds me of coolpix 990/950/4500) is a very professional touch, allowing me to catch the shot at the angle it should be at, although it is missing an optical viewfinder I never use anymore. All in All... If you want a subcompact this might be THE one to get, especially if you like the to take movie clips as well. If you care about ultimate picture quality and have lots of battery power... get a bigger camera, there is no sub compact that will solve your problem.
