THAT IT IS NOT MADE ANYMORE! I GOT 2 now! please Note that its very very seldom for sale USED!! ??!!! howcome?? Im so sorry that i have to write an review again, but please folks im very very satiesfied with this black pearl which i have used intensively for PRO work for a local news paper in this summer,my editor(s)often ask what camera i use and they think its the normal L lens gear and High end Canon DSLRs as D1 or D10,BUT when i tell them its from this >old>box they dont believe me!.. . its so sharp and the colour balances is so well defined that we are all in chok! Of course its not designed for fast assignments BUT when i got time I Only use this!! You see, please note that The G2 has 64 reviews with a very high score on this site. And all others users they dont want to sell it ,when they are aware of the pics this G2 can make! I also read that some PJs from NEW YORK times use it!as well as other respected magazines and other PJs.. Hmm i tested them all the G1 G3 G5 G6 and the PRO 1,and i still think the G2 IS Far Better!! Holy moses ! its becoming a CULT object!? What have you done Canon! YOUR work is fantastic! make it again!! a very happy G 2 owner Love Chr Customer Service nope Similar Products Used: many many ..PRO 90 ,G1,G2,G3,G6 pro 1..NIKON and minolta..even the new SONY CARL ZEIS stuff...nope The G2 Rules.. |

see above This Canon g2 is horrifying sharp. As a pro im very very demanding and believe me; this Canon G2 (the one example i got) is so sharp and has perfect balance between colour and contrast; im sometimes so surprised to get pics in this quality so i think its medium format! If it wasnt for the white balance which sometimes teaseme, and the lack of fastness i would take this unit G2 with me on assignment everyday!it also seems that this camera has a perfect balance of the ccd and the number of pixels inside in conjunction with a very good lens;the Canon folks hit it ! too bad they dont make anymore ,advise; get a used sample anyway. Its worth any penny Customer Service none Similar Products Used: g1 g3 g5 pro 1 s45 s50 from canon |

ALL; sharp sharp sharp lens f2 -2,5: good for low light(better than g3 and g5) cant see lens throuh the viewfinder you can make it as point and shoot digital cam;fast focus
Weakness:
None I have searched the market long for a small pro rangefinder digital camera. The answer IS the fabolous Canon G2.! It seems it got all the features i needed compared to the others in this heat= The Canon G3 and G5.Simply because the G2 had a list of better performances which is all in all better than many other cams costing double up as well from other brands.Where else can you get a F2-2,5 lens through out 34 mm up to 100mm?? You can even make this a pointt and shoot camera because of the hyperfocus mode you can put on(a feature that is omitted in the G3 and G5)it simply means that the G2 focus from 50 cm and way out !so the question of slow AF focus becomes irrelevant;in most cases i got THE SHOT! and you know..i just put the G2 in the front of my eyes as normal, not needing the LCD screen to focus, which also comes as an extra beneficio as well.So compared to the other(G3 and G5) You cant see the Lens from the viewfinder!this is good too. Furthermore this G2 has been dropped and bbeen trowned around and it still works as new!its very strong as well. The size and design is perfect and i was so lucky i got it in black so the character of the design really comes through, i like the smooth lines and often people stops and ask me what camera i use;the simply like it very much. I could Go on with a detailed list of pure photographic joy from this instrument, but the fact is that it makes absolutely stunning results!!They come sharp detailed and with excellent contrast and resolution in either iso 5o and 100.I use it proffesionally very often with the Canon flash 420 ex and my clients is very happy with the results.Sometimes i think it beats the film results i get! im chokked.Digital gets better and better, theres still a way up to the best Slides and Black/white film to go:BUT its NOT evident and in many cases i feel the digital IS better!! GET THE G2 before the close the production :Its the best G model. Customer Service Not needed Similar Products Used: .Pro 90 |

Strength:
Good picture quality.
Weakness:
Camera control freezes. Lost confidence. Never know when the camera will fail. My first G2 died immediately after turning Power ON. My second Canon G2 works but control locks up at times. Manual focusing is difficult. Picture quality good. Customer Service Below average |

Strength:
Picture quality. Easy to learn menus and dials. Nice features. Small and lightweight. Relatively long exposure times.
Weakness:
Startup lag from off or sleep is looong. Would prefer ability to change ISO from dial rather than menu. Lens cap must be off to start up and can't be put on when camera on to protect lens - this is very irritating! Good camera for price and nice choice for 1st digital camera. Beautiful quality pictures with options for beginning camera user (fully auto) and for photographer who wants more control over settings. Customer Service Not used. Strength:
1. Small, it and flash in a fanny pack 2. Hotshoe, 380EX Flash works perfect 3. Flash has a 250 sync speed 4. Accepts 1 gig Microdrive 5. Software is very good, easy to learn 6. Shoot all day long battery 7. 8X10 Prints from Epson 820 are great! 8. Can view photos directly from TV
Weakness:
1. Top heavy with external flash 2. Maybe a little on the expensive side 3. Silver color, black might look better 4. Shutter lag, G2 probably best in class This is an easy camera to operate if you are already a Canon SLR 35MM shooter. The dial and functions are logical whether you are a beginner or advanced shooter. Comes with a 32 meg Compact Flash. However, I bought the 1 gig microdrive for $300 from Adorama. This microdrive comes with a PCI card that enables you to download images directly to your laptop (if you have a PCI slot). I am guessing here, but I would say you can get 250 plus images, using the RAW mode. Looked at the Canon D60 Digital SLR hoping to use my collection of EOS lenses. I was stopped by the $2000 price tag and the 1.5X magnification of 35MM lenses. Canon G2 gives me most of the pro features I wanted. Even though the battery last all day, I will probably buy a backup battery because the 1 gig Microdrive holds so many images. I studied this camera for a year, back when it was the G1. This camera gives the most bang for the buck. I highly recommend the Canon G2. Strength:
-Solidly Built -Good quality lens, but not the best.Retouching in software recommended. -LCD swivels (Can take a photo of yourself) -Good manual controls -Good Battery Life -Lossless RAW compression (only 2.xxMB) so CF can hold more RAW pictures. -Fast Lens (f/2) -With remote control -Available Flash hotshoe - Fast Picture processing
Weakness:
-No Bulb shutter (Max. 15 sec). Hard to adapt for astronomy. The Nikon Coolpix 990/995 is great for this. -Expensive. -Fastest shutter of only 1/1000sec, and not for all modes and apertures. (Some limit you to a lower shutter.) -Cannot change exposure settings and zoom settings in video mode -Cannot use AA batteries -Digital zooms are in steps, not continuous -Inconvenient to add on lens or filter because you have to remove a thread cap and add a convertor, then mount your filter/lens on that converter. I have used it for 2 weeks now and am generally happy with it. I printed a 1600x1200 image onto a Oce CPS700 laser printer of A4-sized normal paper and it looked sharp. I think it should still look fine on A3 with that resolution. I imageine that with the highest reolution it can support, it can print adequately on A3, but have never tried it. I like the lossless compression of the RAW format, as it takes up only 2.x MB , compared to 8MB on other digital cameras withoput the compressed RAW. I have summarized all the points below. I think most people should be happy with this camera. Customer Service Not yet. Similar Products Used: Nikon Coolpix 990 and 995 |

Easy to use. Sharp focus. Saturate color. Price is reasonnable I have been using Canon G2 for 5 months. I take many kinds of pictures: flower, landscape, people. I print the pictures on Epson premium glossy paper, size 11x14 with my Epson injet 1280. The prints are perfect. They are as good as prints from film.My friend a professionnal photographer could not differentiate which pictures made from digital canon. They are very sharp, colore is saturate. I really enjoy Canon G2 and epson printer . Similar Products Used: Canon A1 Nikon F5 |

Strength:
15 second shutter speed great for night shots, just make sure you have a tripod or sit the camera down. Compact Flash card means you can use the cards for other digital devices(ie mini-disk, palm-pilot etc...) Hot shoe for external flash big plus, but you don''t need it. It DOES have threads on it to add external lenses unlike the last reviewer stated. This is a huge plus. I''m a USAF pilot and sometimes the 3x zoom isn''t quite enough, so it''s nice to know that I can add a 2x or 3x lens on to it. The swivel LCD rocks...that''s probably the best feature. The remote is a plus, combined with the swivel LCD means you can take pictures of yourself...how cool is that. The built in flash is very adequate. The battery life is very good as well. I walked around all day at Disney taking pictures and byt the end of the day the display still showed full power. I was going to buy an additional battery before I went on my trip, but I don''t see a need for it now. It comes with the 32mb card, but pick up a 128 mb card off ebay for $45 and you''re in there!! Everything you need is included in the box, the usb cable the software everything. The pictures on this thing speak for themsel
Weakness:
If it had a stronger zoom like a 6x it would rock even more, but c''mon it has the capability to add lenses so I''m not complaining. Image stablization would be nice, but you don''t really need it with just the 3x zoom. It''d be great to get this for about $650, but maybe within a year. Awesome camera! Takes great pictures. A little expensive, but you won''t be disappointed. I bought this just in time for my trip to Disney and I was loving it. Customer Service Haven''t had to use them. Similar Products Used: Well, even though this is my first digital camera I researched the crap out of them for about 3 months when I was in the desert. I was also looking at the Fuji 6900 because of the 6x optical zoom. K |
