None for such an old camera Yes, I know it's sort of weird to write a review on a 7 year old product! This camera's superb performance deserves mentioning. I have taken the D-490 on numerous overseas trips and have been amazed at the consistent image quality this "dated" 2 mega pixel camera delivers. We recently returned from Italy and brought along my D-490's (supposed) replacement- an Olympus Stylus 600 6 megapixel compact. I use compact digitals as backups to my Nikon digital SLRs. In short, the 600's image quality, color fidelity, low light, and flash mode were INFERIOR to the old workhorse D-490! Despite all of the added shooting modes and newer technology, the 600's images were lackluster. I've never had a problem with lens "flare" with the old D-490, but the newer 600 is particularly susceptable. The D-490 is fine for 4X6 and 5X7 vacation prints even to this day. Still going strong after all of these years, my D-490ZOOM continues to perform. A great product. Customer Service Never required Similar Products Used: Olympus Stylus 600

Someone said it doesn''t take good pics in the dark, I really disagree. I took a picture with in my front yard at night, the only light was a flashlight and my flash. It turned out great! I also took a picture at a carnival with the flash off, I have a picture of a carousel that looks like it should be in a fancy photo book.
Weakness:
Not having a usb, but I solved it by getting plug adaptor, by not running on the batteries the pics upload much quicker. I also bought a bigger memry card it comes with just an 8meg card. I love my camera! I keep finding new things to love about it. None can tell my pics are digital when I pic them up. I keep being amazed at the shots I get. I took a picture of my son in the bathtub, he was drinking from the fauccet. This camera froze that drop of water in midair as it is about to go in his mouth. You can also take pictures one after the other very quickly. I take a lot of pics and can just delete the bad ones. Customer Service Have not needed it yet. Similar Products Used: KodaK 215, quality was poor. |
