Strength:
Other than the overall usefullness of this product, I really like the secondary flap under the zipper opening that allow the camera strap to be separated from the LCD screen on the back of the camera itself, thereby protecting the glass and controls from scratches and abrasions. The pocket within the opening flap is a handy place to store extra memory cards and the side pocket is just enough room for the loaded AA battery insert for my battery grip in case I run down the rechargeable battery packs. If I am traveling by air, or making a road trip when I know I won't be using the camera, I reverse the lens hood and can shorten up the overall length by about 3 inches. However I normally unzip the extension at the end of the lens compartment and keep the lens hood in the shooting position so I can quickly put the camera to use, when needed.
Weakness:
If I could change one thing about the Holster 50, it would be to add at least one more accessory compartment to its design. I know there is a fine line between traveling light and having the right amount of gear storage, but I would really like enough more storage space to carry my 1.4X TC on the holster. I purchased the Holster 50 after I purchased an EF 100-400 f/4-5.6L lens for my 7D. Knowing I wouldn't want all that weight hanging around my neck constantly, I sought an option to carry my equipment while hiking to and from a shooting location. The Think Tank Holster 50 fit my needs quite well. The shoulder strap allows it to be used over a shoulder, or around the right side of my neck and draped across my chest and back, with the camera under my left arm. The material is tough and durable, and I can wander through heavy brush without fear of damaging the camera. I hang the strap over the passenger seat headrest in my truck while traveling and can quickly access the camera when I need it, but also keep the camera out of sight to someone who might be looking in the window. Customer Service Haven't need it. Similar Products Used: Only used photo backpacks and gadget bags before; nothing like this product. |
