Strength:

* Gear is well protected. I never worry about my gear when I use this bag. * Well made. * I like the removable film pocket means easy in and out of the fridge. Same with airport X rays if that worries you.

Weakness:

* The "tripod straps" underneath are just annoying to me. Never used them. * It''s not very deep. A larger camera like EOS 3/1/1n/1v with booster would be so tall that you wouldn''t be able to fit a lens below it (there''s a lens compartment below where the camera would sit). * Screams camera bag.

Well made. Enough padding without being excessive, and the plate in the bottom adds protection. This means, however, that the bag is stiff and blocky. It certainly looks like a camera bag. If this is a problem for you, you may want to look at the Domke bags. I have a Domke F-3XB and I prefer to use that one when I want to be more discreet. The Domke, however, has virtually no padding, no bottom plate and does not have a zipper. Therefore, I keep both. When I''m out in nature and want more protection both against bumps and hits, but also against weather, the Tamrac is great. It has a big rainflap and zippers on the inside. I also like the material (Powergrid Cordura) which is strong and water resistant. Not as good as the ballistic nylon used on my Domke bag, but still very good. I had a Tamrac Superlight 5444 which is very similar in size and features. The Zoom Traveler, however, felt superiorly built. It does make it heavier and more expensive. There is one design choice Tamrac made which may shorten the lifetime of the bag. The carry handle is attached to the lid. Although there are clips to attach the lid to the rest of the bag, the outer material of the lid is stressed when carrying by the handle.
